About the Role
We are looking for a Security Commissioning Technician to join our Systems team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the commissioning, configuration, testing, and optimisation of security systems, including Access Control, CCTV, and Intercom solutions across construction projects, tenancy fit-outs, and large-scale customer environments.
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and customers, you will play a critical role in ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and operational requirements. You may also provide technical support during the Defects Liability Period (DLP) to ensure successful project completion and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, configure, and maintain security systems, including Access Control, CCTV, and associated technologies.
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, providing expert troubleshooting and guidance when required.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and key stakeholders to deliver projects on time and to specification.
Support project planning, scheduling, and execution activities.
Maintain a high level of technical expertise through ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
Provide technical support and recommendations to Engineering and Sales teams.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, quality standards, and operational efficiencies.
Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.
Identify, report, and mitigate workplace hazards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Ensure full compliance with Johnson Controls' Safety, Health & Environment Management System (SHEMS) and all applicable safety procedures.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
2-6 years' experience working as a Security Technician or in a similar technical security systems role.
A trade qualification in Security Systems or a related field.
The ability to obtain or hold a current NSW Security Provider Licence.
Proven experience commissioning, configuring, and troubleshooting integrated security solutions.
Strong knowledge of IT networks, server configuration, and system integration principles.
Experience designing and implementing small to medium-scale security systems.
The ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation, and prepare technical reports.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
A customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Flexibility to travel as required.
