Collision Repair Paint Specialist

Job Summary: Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Coatings Application Specialist to join our staff in our Global Innovation Center, Philadelphia. The candidate will join the Refinish GBT Technology Organization supporting our Refinish coatings businesses.  The Application Specialist will be responsible for executing experiments that simulate customer shop conditions for problem resolution and product optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of Axalta Refinish products use and application.

• Utilize hand spray, and machine spray application protocol needed to simulate customer conditions. 

• Load, spray, and test refinish samples. 

• Design experiments to resolve customer issue, or to aid in the development of Refinish products

• Document results in excel and powerpoint.

• Problem resolution for customer complaints for technical and color issues.  Determine validity of the complaint and communicate results as appropriate to customers, sales reps, and R&D team.

• Travel as needed to customer locations, or Product Development Center in Lionville, PA.

• Ability to lead and / or be a significant contributor in cross-functional teams to support application testing and customer technical service.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of application experience with thorough understanding of collision shops products and work practices.

• Excellent hand spray application skills including blending techniques

• Ability work with and train technicians in basic and advance paint application skills

• Understanding of color retrieval software and color measurement

• Thorough understanding of refinish repair techniques including sanding, body filler,

• Thorough understanding of spray equipment used in the refinish industry

• Candidate must have outstanding written and oral communication skills.

• Candidate must me proficient in with MS Office.
