Über diese Cloud Platform Engineer (DevOps) Stelle bei Abtrace
Abtrace is solving one of the most complex and impactful problems in healthcare: helping primary care deliver proactive, preventative care at scale.
We support over 500 primary care practices across the UK, serving 6 million people. We automate the delivery of care for patients with chronic diseases whilst improving healthcare outcomes, reducing operational burden, and creating a better experience for both staff and patients.
Healthcare professionals deserve software that is reliable, safe, modern, thoughtful, and well designed. In high-stakes work, infrastructure stability, security, and operational excellence matter because they reduce friction and help earn trust.
This is an opportunity to help shape the platform behind how millions of people experience healthcare. As the infrastructure function grows, there is clear scope to shape systems, practices, and ways of working.
The Role
Abtrace combines strong product, engineering, and design teams with experienced NHS clinicians. Infrastructure is a core capability at Abtrace.
We are seeking a mid-senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our infrastructure team. You will be responsible for the design and management of our AWS environment, ensuring high availability through robust networking, scalable data processing pipelines (ETL/ELT), and secure API management. You will bridge the gap between infrastructure stability, automated deployment via GitHub Actions, and a seamless developer experience using tools like CodeArtifact and Datadog.
In practice, you will be responsible for:
- Infrastructure & Networking: Manage and optimise our AWS footprint, including VPC design, subnet management, and ensuring secure network topology.
- API Management & Serverless: Oversee the deployment and scaling of API Gateways and serverless functions to ensure reliable service delivery.
- Data Engineering Support: Design and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines and batch processing workflows to ensure seamless data flow across the platform.
- CI/CD & Automation: Own and improve GitHub Workflows, automating deployments and reducing manual intervention in the release cycle.
- Observability & Monitoring: Utilise Datadog to provide deep visibility into system performance, infrastructure health, and automated alerting.
- Security & Configuration: Manage IAM policies, SSM Parameter Store, and Secrets Manager to ensure a "security-first" architecture.
Who you are
- Have 3+ years of experience in a Cloud/DevOps role within an AWS environment.
- Have a proven ability to design and implement complex cloud architectures.
- Have a solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and deployment security practices.
- Can work autonomously while collaborating closely with the Architecture, Software Engineering, and Data teams.
- Have prior experience using tools like Checkov and Trivy for checking IaC misconfigurations.
- Take a proactive approach to identifying and automating manual bottlenecks.
- Can make good decisions with incomplete information and evolving constraints.
We have offices in London and Porto and operate a hybrid model with at least two days per week in office.
Requirements
AWS Core Infrastructure:
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficient use of CloudFormation for resource provisioning.
- Networking: Strong knowledge of VPC, subnets, security groups, and routing.
- Security & Config: Mastery of IAM, SSM Parameter Store, and Secrets Manager.
- Serverless & Integration: Experience with API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, SNS, and DynamoDB.
- AI Integration: Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock for generative AI infrastructure.
Data & Processing:
- Experience in designing ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Knowledge of managing batch processing jobs at scale.
DevOps & Monitoring:
- GitHub: Expert level in GitHub Actions, automation, and deployment best practices.
