We are seeking a compassionate and highly organized Respiratory Therapist to support our multidisciplinary Cystic Fibrosis Clinic. This unique role combines respiratory care expertise with patient education, care coordination, and advocacy to help improve outcomes and reduce hospitalizations for high-risk bronchiectasis and Cystic Fibrosis patients. You will conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, coordinate respiratory care needs and provide ongoing education in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team across a continuum of care for a broad spectrum of patients (80% adults / 20% pediatrics).

A caregiver in this position works Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

As a key member of our comprehensive Cystic Fibrosis care team, you'll work alongside physicians, dietitians, nurses, pharmacists, and other specialists to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care across the lifespan.

A caregiver in this role will:  

• Provide Spirometry and Nasal Nitric Oxide testing
• Identify patients in the specialty care practice that have ongoing respiratory needs and conduct targeted outreach. 
• Serve as a liaison and advocate for patients and families

• Inform and work with patients and their families regarding coordination of their care, provide education and coaching, monitor patient compliance with their care plan, perform reassessments regarding patient progress toward goals, and update plan of care

•  Recommendations and assisting with changes in daily respiratory care that may lead to improved patient outcomes
• Coordinate on-going education for staff and meetings with equipment representatives on devices
• Nebulizer set-ups for various medications; demonstration/teach back of medication administration
• Order equipment and complete respiratory medication prior authorization
• Demonstrate knowledge of airway clearance, CPT, ACT devices and set ups, HFCWO therapy devices (measurements, upgrades)
• Coordinate with inpatient Respiratory Therapy and primary care team to ensure orders for inhaled treatments, correct order of therapies and airway clearance are in place during hospital admission; reviews homegoing plan of care or if any changes occurred
• Participate in continuous quality improvement. 
• Act as a Respiratory Care liaison by developing/maintaining communication with the multidisciplinary care team. 
• Perform blood gas puncture and analysis (where applicable). 

Minimum qualifications for the position include: 

• Associate’s Degree and three years of experience in Respiratory Therapy, including critical care or a specialty environment OR Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment
• Graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy program

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing through the NBRC 

• Current Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) licensure by the Ohio State Medical Board

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Bachelor’s Degree 
• C/RPFT credentialing through the NBRC
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Completion of a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association (AHA 

Physical Requirements:

• Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Requires normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.
• May require sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
