The Clinical Dietitan II or III will provide age-appropriate nutrition care through expert practice, education, consultation, research, and leadership. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team; serves as a resource for the Medical and Nursing staff, ancillary team members and others, as appropriate, outside of the institution. Utilizes clinical practice and knowledge of advanced pediatric oncology nutrition principles to provide evidence-based nutrition care. Participates in institutional and professional activities to promote the profession, the department and the institution. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the objectives of the department and the organization.

Clinical Dietitan II

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver medical nutrition therapy to patients based on patient needs and standard processes.
• Assess nutritional status, determine nutritional requirements, and set appropriate goals according to established standards.
• Institute appropriate type of nutrition support, evaluate outcome of medical nutritional therapy,
• Adjust medical nutrition therapy by recommending and initiating appropriate changes in delivery of nutrients to achieve established outcomes.
• Provide appropriate nutrition intervention and education/ instruction to patients/ families.
• Participate in quality control/quality assurance activities within department.
• Participate in nutrition research and/ or projects.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure integrated care.
• Serve as a nutrition resource, educator, and consultant for patient’s health care professionals, students, and the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• Master's degree in nutrition or a related field including an ACEND-approved dietetic internship required.

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum Experience: 3+ years of experience in clinical dietetics required.
• Clinical experience in an pediatrics/hospital setting preferred.
• Proven performance in earlier/ comparable role.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

• Dietitian/Nutritionist License (LDN-TN) by State of Tennessee Division of Health-Related Boards required.
• Registered as a Dietitian/Nutritionist (LC: CDRAND-RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

• Certification in Nutrition Support by the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition preferred.
• Board Certification as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.
• Board Certification as a Specialist in Oncology Nutrition by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.
• International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners preferred.
• Certified Clinical Research Associate by the Society of Clinical Research Associates preferred.

Clinical Dietitan III

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver medical nutrition therapy to patients based on patient needs and standard processes.
• Assess nutritional status, determine nutritional requirements, and set appropriate goals according to established standards.
• Institute appropriate type of nutrition support, evaluate outcome of medical nutritional therapy,
• Adjust medical nutrition therapy by recommending and initiating appropriate changes in delivery of nutrients to achieve established outcomes.
• Provide appropriate nutrition intervention and education/ instruction to patients/ families.
• Execute quality control/quality assurance activities within department.
• Participate and support researchers with designing and conducting research and projects (including development of nutrition component of treatment protocols).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure integrated care.
• Serve as a nutrition resource, educator, and consultant for patient’s health care professionals, students, and the community.
• Collaborate with departmental administration to support execution of projects/ operations.
• Serve as the departmental representative for a recognized nutrition-related committee/ board.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• Master's degree in nutrition or a related field including an ACEND-approved dietetic internship required.

Minimum Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in clinical dietetics required and 3+ years of experience in pediatrics or oncology.
• Proven performance in earlier/ comparable role.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

• (LC: LDN-TN) Licensure by the State of Tennessee Division of Health Related Boards as a Dietitian/Nutritionist required
• (LC: CDRAND-RD) Registered as a Dietitian/Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Preferred:

• (LC: NBNSC-NS) Certification in Nutrition Support by the National Board of Nutrition Support established by American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) preferred
• (LC: ADA-PEDSP) Board Certification as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred
• (LC: ADA-ONCNUT) Board Certification as a Specialist in Oncology Nutrition by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred
• (LC: LACCON) International Board Certified Lactation Consultant by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners preferred
• (LC: SOCRA) Certified Clinical Research Associate by the Society of Clinical Research Associates preferred

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Clinical Dietitian II or III.
