About the Role

The expert will oversee the technical aspect of design and support construction supervision to ensure structure integrity of dam.

Qualifications:

• With at least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and has a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in reviewing detailed dam design.
• Registration as a Chartered or Professional Engineer by internationally recognised institution or association. This is a mandatory requirement. By law of Samoa, engineer shall be registered as a chartered member of the local IPES.

Responsibilities:

• Review drawings and design documents of civil structures produced by the contractors on quality and conformity of the proposed design and advise IAs on necessary adjustment that may be requested to the contractor;
• Assist the MWTI in preparing operation and maintenance strategy documents from the viewpoint of civil engineering;
• Establish a quality assurance system;
• Supervise civil works of operation of the AMDP MWTI;
• Ensure adherence to project schedule;
• Record events are leading to delay in operational activities;
• Ensure the safety and structural integrity of the dam during operation; Execute skill transfer programs for AMDP MWTI personnel during the operation stage;
• Assist AMDP MWTI in conducting maintenance of the civil structures;
• Establish document management system for reports on operation and maintenance activities for civil works;
• Assist in maintaining sound external relations and personnel relations.
