Course: Child Development: Prenatal to Adolescence

In this course, candidates identify the developmental milestones of children, prenatal to adolescence. Students examine the progression of these milestones in all areas of development, including psychological, social, emotional, linguistic, cognitive, and physical. Additional focus is placed on typical and atypical child development, and analyzing the effects of environment, trauma, and family dynamics on the development progression. 

 What You Will Do:

• Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions

• Engage students in learning course objectives and topics

• Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom

• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

What You Will Bring:

·         Master's Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, or related field AND 2 areas of exceptional expertise.

·         All instructors must have a valid state teacher certification in Early Childhood Eduction, Early Childhood Special Education or Special Educator OR

o    a valid state certification in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education or Special Education AND

o    a minimum of 3 years teaching students ages birth to age 8/grade 3 in a special education or inclusive education setting.
