We are currently seeking an exceptional customer service professional to join us as a Chemical Buyer II

The Chemicals Buyer II position is an intermediary to advanced purchasing role. This position is responsible for purchasing on behalf of our complex and higher volume customers. This position also requires managing price, lead time logistics and on-time delivery of products. This individual is expected to implement their past procurement experience, sound business acumen, customer care, and communication skills. This role requires going beyond procurement with vertical dimensions, to include direct contact with customers, suppliers and several different departmental employees. The Chemicals Buyer II must provide excellent customer service support, resolve complex client issues and improve client satisfaction in a timely manner.

About Role:

· Organize and monitor complex chemical purchasing activities for our high volume clients.

· Remain up to date on market trends on the assigned categories, including sourcing strategy, establishing vendor relationships and contract negotiations.

· Identify alternate sources of chemical supply not currently utilized, qualify and introduce to the business in order to drive cost, quality, responsiveness and improved reliability.

· Responsible for regular interaction with cross functional teams within the company to gain input and assess the performance of suppliers in terms of delivered cost, quality, service and innovation.

· Review incoming requisitions for accuracy and completeness; resolve any problems on the requisitions with the appropriate department.

· Train Junior Buyers and act as a mentor during their training period.

· Contact chemical suppliers to obtain competitive price, determine availability, terms, and delivery schedule regarding specific requisitions; evaluate quotes from various sources and recommend awards.

· Execute duties with responsiveness, accuracy, and meet or exceed the defined performance metrics.

· Work with suppliers in support of all procurement efforts, delivery, and/or quality, including

· Act as a focal point for the resolution of procurement discrepancies by communicating with Customers and suppliers, interfacing with multiple business and computer systems; and initiating actions related to invoices and payments, receiving quantities and schedules, inspections and rejections and other related issues

· Resolve complex customer services issues, concerns and escalates issues as needed.

· Initiate and escalate critical material expedite of Open POs to ensure on-time deliveries.

· Primary point of contact for day-to-day supply chain service activities to internal employees and high-volume clients.

· Administer Customer Contract Requirements specific to the Chemical Procurement services contracted and ensure supplier compliance with site and client requirements.

About You:

· High School Diploma or GED, with five years of relative industry experience is required; Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) credential, is preferred, OR;

· Bachelor's degree in related field AND one to two years of buying experience; and/or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education

Experience

· Two to four years of experience working in purchasing, supply chain or banking industry preferred but not required

· Previous experience resolving high level customer service issues

Qualifications

· Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills, with emphasis in Quality and Customer Service

· Positive attitude and ability to function as a team player.

· Ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization

· Ability to obtain a technical acumen for reading and comprehending technical specifications and requirements

· Ability to be detailed oriented and perform basic research

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills

· Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently and ethically with both internal and external customers

· Strong follow-through and perseverance to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

· Ability to learn and gain knowledge of the integrated database systems and report writing software; as well as Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel, as needed

· Ability to travel is required (minimal)

Strong working Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Is essential, alongside experience using Copilot or other AI tools to enhance productivity.
