What you will have an opportunity to do:

Bathing Water Operations

· Monitor and maintain swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, children’s pools, splash pads, and other bathing facilities.

· Test and document water chemistry at required intervals, including:

o Free and combined chlorine or applicable disinfectant levels.

o pH.

o Total alkalinity.

o Calcium hardness.

o Cyanuric acid where applicable.

o Water temperature.

o Other parameters required by applicable regulations or resort procedures.

· Adjust chemical levels safely and accurately to maintain required operating ranges.

· Monitor automated chemical-feed and water-treatment systems.

· Inspect and maintain pumps, filters, strainers, heaters, heat exchangers, chemical feeders, controllers, valves, circulation systems, and related equipment.

· Maintain proper circulation, filtration, turnover, and water levels.

· Perform or coordinate filter cleaning, backwashing, media maintenance, and other scheduled water-treatment procedures.

· Inspect pool surfaces, drains, skimmers, return fittings, ladders, handrails, covers, grates, and other components for proper condition.

· Monitor pool water clarity and immediately investigate abnormal discoloration, odors, foaming, or other water-quality concerns.

· Respond promptly to water-quality problems, equipment failures, contamination events, and other aquatic emergencies.

· Follow established procedures for pool closures, chemical treatment, contamination response, and reopening.

· Maintain accurate daily operating logs, chemical records, equipment readings, inspections, and maintenance documentation.

Non-Bathing Bodies of Water

· Monitor and maintain non-bathing water features, including decorative ponds, lagoons, fountains, reflecting pools, and similar resort water features.

· Inspect pumps, circulation systems, filters, aeration equipment, fountains, skimmers, and water-feature controls.

· Maintain appropriate water levels and circulation.

· Monitor water appearance, odor, algae growth, debris, and other conditions affecting appearance or environmental quality.

· Perform or coordinate cleaning, algae control, debris removal, and preventive maintenance.

· Ensure non-bathing areas are appropriately identified and maintained to prevent guest access where required.

· Coordinate with Engineering and approved contractors for specialized treatment or maintenance.

· Follow applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements for non-bathing water systems.

Chemical Handling and Safety

· Safely receive, store, handle, transport, and use pool chemicals and water-treatment products.

· Maintain proper separation and storage of incompatible chemicals.

· Inspect chemical storage areas, ventilation, containment, labeling, and safety equipment.

· Maintain chemical inventories and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.

· Follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS), manufacturer instructions, resort procedures, and applicable regulations.

· Use appropriate PPE when handling chemicals.

· Follow lockout/tagout procedures when servicing pumps, motors, chemical-feed systems, and other equipment.

· Immediately report chemical spills, leaks, exposure incidents, equipment hazards, and unsafe conditions.

Preventive Maintenance

· Establish and perform routine inspections of aquatic equipment and water-treatment systems.

· Identify potential equipment failures before they affect guests or water quality.

· Replace or coordinate replacement of worn pumps, seals, valves, filters, gauges, tubing, fittings, and other components.

· Maintain pool equipment rooms, chemical rooms, pump rooms, and surrounding service areas in a clean and organized condition.

· Coordinate major repairs with the Engineering Department and qualified outside contractors.

· Maintain preventive-maintenance schedules and work orders through the resort’s CMMS when applicable.

Guest Safety and Facility Inspection

· Conduct routine inspections of pool decks, surrounding areas, access points, signage, safety equipment, and aquatic facilities.

· Report or correct unsafe conditions immediately.

· Ensure required pool safety equipment is accessible and in serviceable condition.

· Monitor for hazards such as slippery surfaces, damaged grates, loose handrails, inadequate signage, electrical hazards, and chemical leaks.

· Coordinate with Lifeguards, Recreation, Security, and management regarding pool closures and safety concerns.

· Assist with emergency response procedures involving aquatic facilities when required.

· Maintain a professional and guest-focused presence while working in guest areas.

Regulatory and Documentation Responsibilities

· Maintain current Certified Pool Operator certification and any additional licenses or credentials required by the applicable jurisdiction.

· Ensure aquatic operations comply with applicable health department, environmental, safety, and resort requirements.

· Maintain required inspection reports, water-quality logs, chemical records, maintenance records, and incident documentation.

· Prepare facilities and records for regulatory inspections.

· Immediately notify management of conditions that may require closure or regulatory notification.

· Stay current on changes to applicable pool, spa, water-treatment, chemical-safety, and environmental requirements.

What are we looking for?

Required Qualifications

· Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or equivalent recognized aquatic-facility operator certification.

· Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating and maintaining commercial, hotel, resort, municipal, or similar aquatic facilities preferred.

· Strong knowledge of pool and spa water chemistry and chemical treatment.

· Working knowledge of pumps, filtration systems, circulation systems, chemical-feed systems, heaters, controllers, and aquatic mechanical equipment.

· Ability to accurately perform water testing and maintain detailed operating records.

· Knowledge of safe handling and storage of pool chemicals.

· Ability to recognize water-quality problems and equipment malfunctions.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest and employee safety.

· Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with Engineering and Recreation teams.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience operating aquatic facilities at a large beach resort, hotel, or multi-pool property.

· Experience with multiple swimming pools and spas operating simultaneously.

· Experience with automated chemical monitoring and dosing systems.

· Experience with commercial filtration and circulation systems.

· Experience with fountains, lagoons, decorative ponds, and other non-bathing water features.

· HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or water-treatment experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

· Walk and stand for extended periods.

· Work outdoors in hot, humid, sunny, windy, and wet conditions.

· Work around swimming pools, spas, mechanical rooms, chemical rooms, and water-treatment equipment.

· Lift and carry chemical containers, tools, equipment, and maintenance materials in accordance with safe lifting practices.

· Climb ladders and stairs and access pumps, filters, tanks, and mechanical equipment.

· Bend, kneel, reach, push, and pull as necessary to perform maintenance tasks.

· Wear appropriate PPE, including respiratory or chemical-protection equipment when required by the applicable procedure.
