Pima County Shooting Sports Park is looking for a dependable Cashier - Customer Service team member to provide excellent customer service and support daily range operations. As the Cashier you will perform point-of-sale transactions and support tasks for the Pima County Parks & Recreation department.

Essential Functions:

• Handle cash and electronic payments accurately for admissions, rentals, merchandise, or event fees;

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests and answering questions;

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to enter sales and manage transactions;

• Maintain accountability of funds by balancing the cash drawer and following cash-handling procedures;

• Communicate facility rules, hours of operation, and safety guidelines to patrons;

• Assist with reservations for park shelters, sports fields, or recreational programs;

• Maintain a clean and organized cashier station and surrounding area;

• Support special events and programs by providing cashier services or guest check-in;

• Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or suspicious activity to supervisors;

• Perform basic clerical tasks such as answering phones and filing paperwork.

Minimum Qualifications:

1,040 hours of experience performing cashier and customer service duties assisting the general public.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

• Experience working as a cashier or handling cash, credit card transactions, registrations, memberships, or other customer payments.

• Experience providing customer service in a public-facing environment, including answering questions, explaining rules or procedures, and addressing customer concerns.

• Experience working in a shooting range, shooting sports, firearms, hunting, or similar outdoor environment, including exposure to varying weather conditions and loud noise.

• Experience working in a safety-sensitive or regulated environment where following and consistently enforcing rules, policies, or procedures is required.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.     

Supplemental Information:

Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.  Some positions may require possession of a First Aid Certification Card and/or CPR Certification on the date of appointment. Failure to obtain/maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.

Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems. Pima County determines whether a position is eligible for visa sponsorship at the time of recruitment. Eligibility is based on the requirements of the position and applicable laws and regulations. Not all positions with Pima County are eligible for visa sponsorship.
