Position Summary / Career Interest:

Capital Project Manager manages a diverse project team including internal clinical staff, operations support teams, external consultants, vendors and contractors. The Capital Project Manager will manage several projects simultaneously and assist in the development of project plans including goals, scope, schedule and budget. The Capital Project Manager is also responsible to incorporate input from all appropriate team members and consultants. The Capital Project Manager will be responsible for project budgets and will provide summaries and progress of project schedules and budgets.

  • Maintains and protects confidentially of all Hospital information, including Patient Health Information (PHI), Peer Review(s) and other attorney-client information.
  • Inquires, assembles and documents all necessary information prior making a project decision
  • Conducts active evaluations and shares determinations on project specific issues
  • Exercises sound judgment and decision-making to ensure successful flow of the project
  • Demonstrates accountability for own actions and decisions
  • Willingly accepts ownership for decisions and actions made as part of a team
  • Demonstrates dependability in the performance of the job specific position
  • Manages own time efficiently

  • Responsible for the establishing, reporting and management of project schedules
  • Responsible for the planning, design, review, approval and adherence to the project scope as established in the original, approved, project documents
  • Responsible for successful coordination of projects with other Hospital Departments
  • Responsible for scheduling, attending and directing project planning, design and construction meetings
  • Maintains a professional appearance
  • Responsible for reporting current status of all projects
  • Responsible for reporting the original scope and any changes in scope
  • Responsible for reporting the original schedule, any changes in schedule and current expected scheduled completion date
  • Responsible for reporting the original budget, any changes in budget and current expected cost at completion
  • Complies with the Corporate Responsibility Program
  • Complies with Hospital Corporate Policies
  • Complies with Departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Assumes responsibility for risk and safety issues associated with the position
  • Complies with all applicable regulatory policies, procedures and standards
  • Complies with all applicable Hospital risk and safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Acts as an advocate for the Hospital in communications with regulatory agencies

  • Actively participates as a member of the many Hospital teams to achieve organizational goals
  • Responsible for participating as part of the departmental team to achieve departmental goals
  • Capable and competent to successfully manage construction projects valued from $1,000 to $20,000,000
  • Capable and competent to successfully manage difficult and highly complex construction projects.
  • Management of assigned projects will sometimes require working weekends and off-hours, as necessitated by the scope of work and project schedule.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate
  • Bachelors Degree Degree in Technical Field, Engineering or Architecture from an accredited College or University.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree
  • 5 or more years experience in building Design and/or Construction.
  • Healthcare-related construction management experience.


Preferred Licensure and Certification

  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Architect.
  • Project Management Institute Certification (PMI); American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) Fellow Certification or Senior Certification; U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED Certification


Knowledge Requirements

  • Familiar with construction management software such as Prolog, Expedition, E-Builder or Primavera.
  • Proficient in the use of scheduling software such as Suretrak and Microsoft Project.
