The Role

We're building out our capital allowances offering and are looking for a Manager. You'll run a portfolio of client engagements, from single-asset claims through to large multi-site capital expenditure projects, working across all sectors. You'll support the technical lead on claims, act as the main point of contact for clients, and drive growth in this part of the practice.

This is a genuine opportunity to shape how the team operates, not slot into an existing one. Unity's technology and AI tools handle the heavy lifting on claim preparation and data analysis, freeing you up for the technical judgement and client relationships that actually move the needle.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of capital allowances engagements across multiple sectors.

• Prepare, review and submit capital allowances claims, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with current legislation.

• Advise clients on fixed asset tax treatment, expenditure planning and related incentives, including structures and buildings allowances and R&D-adjacent capital reliefs.

• Manage HMRC correspondence and enquiries, negotiating on clients' behalf where needed.

• Interpret asset schedules, fixed asset registers and financial data to identify qualifying expenditure and maximise client outcomes.

• Produce clear, well-structured technical reports and client-facing deliverables.

• Coach junior team members through day-to-day oversight, review and quality control.

• Contribute to business development, including proposals, pitches and opportunities within existing client relationships.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills — able to interpret financial data and asset schedules, and pick up new digital tools quickly.

• Solid track record in capital allowances or fixed asset tax advisory, gained at an established advisory or accountancy firm.

• Strong technical knowledge of UK capital allowances legislation, comfortable managing multiple live engagements at once.

• CTA, ACA, ACCA, RICS or equivalent qualification.

• Confident communicator — credible with senior stakeholders, able to explain complex tax positions in plain terms.
