Job Title

Position Overview

If you enjoy CAD design but want to see your work become something tangible, this is an opportunity to help bring sports fields to life.

As a CAD Project Engineer with Shaw Sports Turf®, you’ll help transform project plans and creative field concepts into the technical drawings, layouts and manufacturing instructions needed to build synthetic turf fields. You’ll work across Sales, Operations and Manufacturing while developing hands-on experience in CAD design, sports field layouts, turf systems and project execution.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career CAD or engineering professional who wants to grow their technical skills while working on highly visible, real-world projects.

About Shaw Sports Turf

Shaw Sports Turf is a North American leader in synthetic turf, with more than 4,000 installations spanning high school, collegiate and professional sports. Its fields have been installed for organizations such as the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays.

Innovation is a major part of the brand. Shaw Sports Turf's PEAK Performance Lab studies athlete interaction, field consistency and durability to help engineer high-performing playing surfaces. And its Game On® technology integrates field elements such as hash marks, lines, numbers and logos during manufacturing, reducing seams while expanding field design possibilities.

That makes this CAD position especially marketable: the drawings you create aren't staying on a computer screen. They're helping become actual playing surfaces used by athletes and communities.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll develop the technical foundation to support synthetic turf projects from design through execution. You’ll:

• Create shop drawings, field renderings and tufting instructions for synthetic turf projects with guidance from experienced team members.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and material calculations to support accurate project planning.
• Review project plans, specifications and scopes of work to help ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Learn sports field layouts, dimensions, governing standards and Shaw Sports Turf product systems.
• Support assigned distributor accounts and assist with project execution.
• Help design and execute Game On® field projects, building experience with customized field graphics, markings and layouts.
• Partner with Sales, Operations and Manufacturing to move projects from concept to finished product.
• Maintain accurate project information, distributor notes and supporting documentation.
• Continue developing expertise in AutoCAD, internal systems and project workflows.
• Take on increasing project ownership as your technical knowledge and experience grow.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Design or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Entry-level experience through up to three years of relevant CAD drafting experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

What Will Help You Succeed

You'll be successful in this role if you:

• Take ownership and follow through on commitments.
• Pay close attention to the details that make a design accurate and buildable.
• Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams.
• Use good judgment and ask thoughtful questions.
• Take initiative rather than waiting for the next assignment.
• Enjoy learning new products, systems and technical concepts.
