Our Journey
We are looking for a commercially minded and adaptable Business Development Executive to help grow ShopBack Pay’s offline merchant network in Singapore. This is an acquisition-focused role for someone who enjoys building from the ground up, learning quickly, and finding practical ways to reach an outcome.
What You'll Own
Identify, prospect, and acquire new offline merchants across priority categories
Own the full merchant acquisition cycle, from outreach and pitching through negotiation, closing, and onboarding
Use the most effective acquisition channels for each opportunity, including calls, email outreach, networking, in-person meetings, walk-ins, and field sales
Manage newly acquired merchant relationships during the early stages, helping them get set up and generate results before accounts are transitioned as the team grows
Work toward commercial outcomes measured by the number of merchant outlets acquired and the revenue generated by those merchants
Learn quickly from market feedback and adapt your approach as products, categories, and priorities evolve
Collaborate with internal teams to share merchant insights and help improve our acquisition strategy and offering
Essentials to Succeed
Fresh graduates interested to learn and gain hands-on experience in Business Development are welcomed to apply!
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
Strong interest in business development, sales, partnerships, or the food and beverage industry; familiarity with Singapore’s food and beverage, retail, beauty, or offline merchant landscape is an advantage
Resourceful, creative, and comfortable finding your own path rather than relying on a fixed sales templateResourceful and able to think critically, assess ambiguous problems from different angles, and find your own path when working on new initiatives without an established playbook
Fast learner who can with the resilience to navigate setbacks and adapt to new products, merchant categories, and priorities
Confident communicating with different stakeholders and building relationships from the ground up
Comfortable with hands-on merchant acquisition, including in-person outreach and field sales when needed
Goal-oriented Driven, goal-oriented, and motivated by measurable commercial outcomes
Able to Self-aware and able to reflect on feedback, recognize areas for growth, and take ownership while working collaboratively in a fast-moving environment
AI Competency: Demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) to develop new or improve workflows, enhance productivity, and drive efficiency at scale.
