The Business Analytics Manager will partner with divisions across Union Maritime to design, build and embed the analytical tools that underpin decision-making, management reporting and the day-to-day running of the business.

Sitting between the Analytics function and the wider organisation, the Manager will work alongside commercial, operations, technical, finance and corporate teams to understand how they work, pinpoint where time, insight or control is being lost, and deliver practical solutions: dashboards, self-service reporting, models, automated workflows and AI-enabled tools.

This is a change role as much as a technical one. The Manager is expected to think critically, challenge current ways of working and lead divisions away from manual, fragmented processes towards simpler, data-driven and automated ones. Working closely with divisional heads and senior leadership, the Manager will build data literacy across the business, set consistent data standards, and make sure the tools delivered are adopted and create lasting value.

Requirements

Driving Change & Challenging Current Practice

· Critically review how divisions currently work, including their processes, reports, spreadsheets and handoffs, and challenge practices that are manual, duplicated, slow or no longer fit for purpose.

· Build the case for change with evidence, quantifying the time, cost and risk of current approaches against the benefits of the alternative.

· Lead change through to adoption, working with divisional heads to redesign processes, retire legacy reports and tools, and embed new ways of working.

· Maintaining a visible pipeline of improvement opportunities.

Analytical Tool Development

· Design, build and maintain dashboards, reports and self-service tools, that people rely on in their daily work.

· Develop analytical models and calculators that support planning, budgeting, performance monitoring and operational decision-making.

· Replace recurring manual reporting and data preparation with automated solutions.

· Embed AI into analytics workflows and business tools to speed up insight generation, raise productivity and strengthen data-driven decisions.

· Test, document and hand over every solution so that it is reliable, easy to use and supportable over time.

· Deliver accurate, timely management reporting and KPI frameworks for divisions and senior leadership.

· Provide ad hoc analysis and insight for business cases, performance reviews and operational decisions.

· Present findings and recommendations clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences, including senior management.

· Work with IT and data owners to identify, access and integrate data from internal systems and external sources.

· Establish consistent metric definitions and data standards so that the business works from a single source of truth.

· Monitor data quality and put controls in place so that outputs can be relied upon.

· Ensure all tools meet the company's data security, access and privacy requirements.

· Drive adoption of new tools through training, guidance and clear launch process.

· Raise data literacy and encourage self-service analytics across divisions.

Team Management

· Lead, develop and mentor the Business Analytics team, setting high standards for quality and delivery.

· Provide clear direction, regular coaching and support for each team member's career development.

· Work closely with other Analytics teams, including Transaction Analytics, to share tools, methods and best practice.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.

· 5+ years' experience in business analytics, business intelligence, management information or data analysis, including substantial time working directly with business stakeholders.

· A proven record of delivering dashboards, reporting solutions and analytical tools that have been adopted and have changed how a business operates.

· Demonstrable experience of leading change: challenging established processes, winning support for new ways of working and seeing change through to adoption.

· A critical, inquisitive mindset, comfortable questioning the status quo and asking why things are done the way they are.

· Highly proficient in Power BI (including DAX and data modelling) and advanced Excel.

· Confident in applying AI tools to analytics and business workflows.

· Able to translate business needs into technical requirements and practical, well-designed solutions.

· Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and explain complex analysis in plain terms.

· Experience in shipping, maritime, logistics or commodities.

· Experience managing people or leading project teams.
