What you'll do

The Business Analyst, Transportation Analysis and Development supports Canadian Tire Corporation’s Transportation Operations Support and Analytics team by turning operational data into clear insights, reporting, and recommendations that improve cost, service, capacity, and network performance. This role works closely with Transportation, Finance, Procurement, Operations, carriers, and other cross-functional partners to support rate management, reporting, RFP analysis, system governance, and continuous improvement across the transportation network.

Analytics, Reporting, and Decision Support

  • Develop transportation dashboards, scorecards, reporting, and analytical models across freight spend, service, capacity, carrier performance, fuel, equipment movement, and KPIs.

  • Analyze carrier, mode, lane, and network data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Translate complex data into clear recommendations, business cases, executive summaries, forecasts, and savings assessments.

Transportation Operations, Sourcing, and Continuous Improvement

  • Support transportation projects, carrier RFPs, contract reviews, bid evaluations, equipment planning, allocation, and freight cost initiatives.

  • Partner with stakeholders to resolve issues, improve processes, reduce manual work, strengthen data quality, and support proactive decisions.

Rate Management, Systems, and Data Governance

  • Maintain transportation rates, fuel surcharge programs, accessorial charges, master data, and related governance to support compliance and financial accuracy.

  • Support Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) processes, carrier onboarding, rate maintenance, data governance, and system-related issue resolution.

  • Maintain documentation and process discipline to support reliable reporting, controls, cross-training, and continuity.

Automation, Tools, and Technology

  • Develop Power BI dashboards, reporting tools, and visualizations that improve visibility into transportation performance, cost, and service.

  • Use SQL, Power BI, Power Automate, Python, Power Query, AI tools, or similar technologies to extract, validate, analyze, and automate data.

Stakeholder Partnership and Communication

  • Build effective relationships across Transportation, Finance, Procurement, Planning, IT, Domestic Transportation, Vancouver Operations, Network Management, Transportation Assets, carriers, and partners.

  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, communicating findings clearly for operational, technical, and leadership audiences.

What you bring

  • 3+ years of experience in Transportation, Supply Chain, Logistics Analytics, Business Analytics, Procurement Analytics, Operations Support, or a related field; Retail, Distribution, Transportation, or 3PL experience is an asset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large datasets and translating findings into business recommendations.

  • Proficiency in data analytics, reporting, and automation tools, including Power BI, SQL, Python, Power Query, VBA, Power Automate, and Microsoft Access. Experience with AI-enabled technologies such as Microsoft Copilot and transportation or supply chain systems, including Oracle Transportation Management (OTM), JDA Transport, Rate Management System (RMT), or Transportation Management Systems (TMS), is considered an asset.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including data modelling, scenario analysis, financial analysis, and validation.

  • Exposure to Transportation Operations, Carrier Management, Freight Costing, Sourcing, Network Optimization, or Logistics Operations.

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Clear communicator and strong team player with storytelling, stakeholder management, prioritization, ownership, collaboration, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver time-sensitive analysis.

Boadband Salary Range :$53,000.00 and $88,000.00 per annum.

Our typical hiring range is between $65,000.00 and $70,000.00 per annum. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
