About Fulfillment IQ (FIQ)

Fulfillment IQ is a supply chain engineering and transformation company that helps brands, retailers, and 3PLs design, build, and scale high-performance logistics operations.

We work at the intersection of strategy, operations, and technology, solving complex, real-world problems across warehouse design, automation, order management, transportation, and end-to-end supply chain execution.

Our teams combine deep domain expertise with strong technical capability, delivering outcomes through consulting, systems implementation, and proprietary platforms that accelerate time-to-value and reduce delivery risk.

If you enjoy working in complex environments, partnering closely with clients, and seeing your work make a tangible impact on how global commerce moves, this is the place where your skills and judgment truly come to life.

Role Overview

Fulfillment IQ is expanding its Blue Yonder practice within our Enterprise Systems Implementation team and is seeking a senior Blue Yonder WMS Design Lead / Solution Architect to lead solution design for complex warehouse transformation programs.

The Design Lead will own the end-to-end functional and technical solution design for Blue Yonder WMS implementations, translating business and operational requirements into scalable warehouse solutions and providing clear direction to configuration, integration, testing, and delivery teams.

This role will serve as a senior design authority throughout the engagement—from discovery and solution design through configuration, testing, deployment, go-live, and hypercare. The Design Lead will work closely with client business and IT stakeholders, FIQ delivery teams, integration teams, and warehouse automation partners to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with Blue Yonder standard capabilities.

Engagements may include large retailers and 3PLs, template-based multi-site rollouts, legacy WMS migrations, complex distribution operations, and highly automated distribution centers involving ASRS, AMRs, WCS/MHE, sortation, conveyance, print-and-apply, parcel, and other material-handling technologies.

This is a highly client-facing leadership role requiring deep Blue Yonder WMS expertise, strong solution architecture capabilities, and the ability to influence stakeholders, challenge requirements, and drive teams toward a common solution.

Mandate

  • Own the end-to-end functional and technical solution design for Blue Yonder WMS implementations.
  • Translate business processes and operational requirements into scalable Blue Yonder WMS solutions.
  • Establish solution design principles and ensure configuration teams remain aligned with approved requirements, architecture, templates, and design decisions.
  • Challenge requirements and proposed customizations where standard Blue Yonder functionality can meet the business need.
  • Determine the appropriate use of standard functionality, configuration, extensions, customization, and integrations.
  • Provide design governance throughout configuration, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
  • Lead integration design discussions across ERP, middleware, WCS/MHE, automation, parcel, transportation, and labeling platforms.
  • Identify solution risks, dependencies, assumptions, and design gaps early and drive them to resolution.
  • Serve as a trusted Blue Yonder WMS advisor to client IT and business stakeholders.
  • Help establish FIQ's Blue Yonder delivery methodology, templates, accelerators, and reusable assets.
  • Mentor Blue Yonder consultants and support development of FIQ's WMS capabilities.
  • Support pre-sales activities including solution strategy, estimates, proposals, demonstrations, and client presentations.

Must Have

  • 7+ years of WMS implementation or consulting experience, including substantial Blue Yonder (JDA/RedPrairie) WMS experience, on enterprise programs
  • Hands-on Blue Yonder design and configuration experience. You must be able to judge design quality and challenge vendor and partner answers. Testing-only or support-only backgrounds will not be a fit
  • Experience as a Solution Architect, Design Lead, or Techno-Functional Lead on at least one full-lifecycle Blue Yonder implementation
  • Strong operational understanding of warehouse processes: receiving, putaway, inventory control, replenishment, allocation, picking, packing, and shipping
  • Experience with new implementations, or with migrations from legacy or custom WMS platforms
  • Experience defining and validating WMS–ERP integration requirements with Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP platforms
  • Ability to lead design workshops and translate operational needs into functional designs, fit-gap analyses, and solution documentation
  • Experience supporting test planning, SIT/UAT execution, defect triage, and cutover readiness
  • Comfort working with distributed onshore/offshore teams across time zones
  • Strong client-facing presence and the confidence to push back on vendor and stakeholder assumptions
  • Based in the United States and able to travel up to 50%, based on client needs

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Proven ability to lead end-to-end WMS solution architecture and functional design from requirements through deployment.
  • Ability to convert business requirements into: solution architecture, functional design, configuration direction, Integration requirements, process flows, technical specifications, and POCs/prototypes where appropriate.
  • Strong ability to distinguish between standard WMOS functionality, configuration, extension, customization, and integration.
  • Experience evaluating customization requests and determining whether requirements can be addressed through standard WMOS functionality or configuration.
  • Experience establishing and governing global/template solutions across multiple sites.

Configuration & Integration Governance

  • Experience directing WMOS configuration teams and reviewing configuration for: functional correctness, design compliance, completeness, scalability, template alignment and solution quality.
  • Ability to identify gaps between approved design and actual configuration.
  • Experience managing design decisions and ensuring traceability from requirements through configuration and testing.
  • Strong understanding of configuration dependencies and downstream impacts of design decisions.
  • Strong understanding of WMS integration architecture and ability to define interface requirements and integration specifications.
  • Experience integrating WMOS with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or equivalent systems.
  • Experience working with middleware/integration platforms and client-owned interface.
  • Understanding of warehouse automation and material-handling integrations, including.
  • WCS/MHE/ASRS/AMRs/Sortation/Conveyance, Print-and-apply, Parcel/shipping systems and Label management.

Client Leadership

  • Experience working within complex enterprise implementation programs involving multiple workstreams and technology teams.
  • Strong ability to manage technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, and design decisions.
  • Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with CIO/IT leadership, WMS teams, warehouse operations, enterprise architects, integration teams, and automation partners.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment when there are competing requirements or design opinions.

Nice to Have

  • MHE, WCS, or WES integration experience (e.g., conveyor, sortation, AS/RS)
  • Hands-on MOCA or SQL experience for data validation and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Blue Yonder hosted or cloud deployments, including recent releases
  • Experience in vendor-led delivery models, where the vendor owns configuration and the partner owns design assurance
  • Retail, wholesale, or multi-site distribution experience
  • Pre-sales, solutioning, or estimating experience
  • Experience mentoring consultants or helping build a consulting practice
  • Prior experience at Blue Yonder or a leading Blue Yonder implementation partner

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead solution design workshops with client operations and business stakeholders across inbound, outbound, and inventory processes
  • Assess current-state operations and systems, including legacy and custom WMS platforms
  • Review Blue Yonder designs and configuration decisions for completeness, scalability, and fit to requirements
  • Develop and validate functional designs, process flows, fit-gap analyses, decision logs, and requirements traceability
  • Define and validate integration requirements with ERP, MHE/WCS, and other connected systems
  • Work with FIQ's global delivery teams to keep requirements, design, and execution aligned
  • Support test strategy, test scenario review, SIT/UAT execution, and defect resolution
  • Drive go-live readiness and hypercare, and carry lessons learned into future deployments
  • Maintain a clear record of risks, assumptions, dependencies, and open design decisions
  • Present design recommendations and tradeoffs to client and FIQ leadership
  • Contribute to FIQ's Blue Yonder practice through templates, accelerators, and best practices, and mentor junior consultants
