The Bioprocess Upstream HW & Cons. (UFM) Field Application Specialist is responsible for providing pre- and post-sales technical support and application consulting that directly drive increased adoption of Cytiva's upstream bioreactor and mixing hardware portfolio, contributing directly to business growth and customer success. By troubleshooting customer technical issues on cell culture and bioreactor workflows, delivering hands-on demonstrations and training, and supporting and coordinating complex quality investigations through resolution, this role enhances customer satisfaction and loyalty, fostering long-term relationships and unlocking further business opportunities across Korea's biopharmaceutical industry.
This position reports to the BioProcess Hardware Modality Leader, Korea and is part of the Bioprocessing Sales organization located in Korea, working remotely to cover customers across Korea.
What you will do:
- Deliver on-site application support and hands-on services for upstream bioprocess hardware and consumables helping customers achieve safe, reproducible and specification-compliant cell culture operations for fed-batch, perfusion and high-cell-density processes.
- Provide customer technical support and troubleshooting for cell culture, bag customization and issues resolution, engaging global product, R&D, quality and service teams to escalate and close complex technical cases.
- Plan and conduct customer training and product demonstrations for BioProcess Upstream Hardware at customer sites, demo centers, seminars, workshops and exhibitions – including operator training on bag installation, visual inspection, start-up and routine operation.
- Support pre-sales, design-in and spec-win activities by reviewing URS / specifications, preparing technical proposals and reference materials, and providing technical input to detailed design reviews and implementation planning for complex upstream products, applications and solutions aligned to manufacturer-stated specifications.
- Optimize products and workflows to meet customer needs and drive new business opportunities, capturing Voice-of-Customer to inform new product introduction (NPI), automation initiatives (e.g., MES integration, digital data connectivity, SCADA/DCS integration) and process intensification opportunities that expand Cytiva's upstream footprint in Korea.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Biotechnology, Biochemical / Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Cell Biology or a related discipline. A master's degree or PhD is highly desirable.
- Multiple years of hands-on experience in bioprocess upstream operations (mammalian cell culture, bioreactor operation, scale-up), including practical experience with process-scale hardware such as single-use bioreactors, single-use bags and mixing systems.
- Demonstrated capability in customer-facing technical support, application consulting, equipment demonstration or field service within a bioprocessing, life-science instrumentation or equivalent GMP-regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of upstream process workflows and automation platforms/software (e.g., PlantPAx, DeltaV or equivalent bioreactor control platforms), with the ability to troubleshoot hardware and process issues independently on-site.
- Fluent level of English and Korean in written and verbal communication, able to interface with both Korean customers and Cytiva's global product, R&D teams.

- If foreign national, legal work permit is required to pursue employment contract by Korean immigration law 대한민국에서의 근무가 가능한 비자가 있는 분
- Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to ##lb, any other physical requirements
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Single-use bioreactor technologies (rocking and stirred-tank), cell culture process development, perfusion / intensified upstream processes, and automation integration (e.g., MES data automation, SCADA/DCS)
- Direct engagement with Korean biopharma customers (e.g., CDMO, biosimilar, vaccine, biologics) and experience supporting large-scale CAPEX or new-facility projects
