What this role is all about
Looking for an energetic Beverage Server who will be responsible for taking orders and serving beverages to patrons, and maintaining tables. This is a Full-time position working evenings for a fast-paced hotel.
What you’ll be doing
Special Qualifications, Education, or Licenses:
- Must meet any city, county, state, or other legal minimum age requirement to sell/serve alcoholic beverages. (T.I.P.S./TABC Card)
- Food Handlers Certificate Required
- TABC certification required
Essential Elements:
- Ability to adhere to Royal Sonesta Houston grooming standards.
- Ability to lift and carry a server tray weighing approximately 10 pounds in the overhead style of service.
- Ability to lift and move approximately 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, squat, and reach.
- Ability to stand and walk continuously.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and direct them to various facilities and functions within the hotel.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including the use of percentages, and count.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to perform cash and credit transactions.
- Ability to effectively utilize point of sale equipment.
- Ability to move freely within the bar/lounge area.
- Not infected by diseases transmitted through the food supply as designated by the Public Health Service.
- Ability to sustain direct contact with the public; must establish a high degree of customer service, (smile, eye contact, positive personal presentation, etc.,) and a high volume of interaction with guests and staff.
Job Tasks:
- Setting tables and station side work.
- Obtain beverage orders from guests, process them on the register, receive beverage orders from the bartender, and deliver beverages to guests.
- Be alert to guest needs by phone and in person to exceed guest expectations.
- Process payments, including cash handling, credit cards, room charges, vouchers, and the city ledger.
- Closing and preparation of the cashier report.
- Closing duties, which include cleaning, sanitizing, and replenishing.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of tables and the surrounding area, as well as the high tea and service bar area.
- To perform other work-related duties as assigned by Management.
