We're seeking an Automation Engineer to design and build business process automation, custom applications, and reporting solutions, primarily utilizing Microsoft Power Platform and Power BI. This position works directly with customers to define what needs to be built, develops and documents the design, and ultimately implements in both development and production environments.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead requirements discovery sessions with customer stakeholders, map current-state business processes, and translate them into documented functional and technical requirements.
• Produce solution design documents, data flow diagrams, and process maps ahead of development, and present designs for customer review and approval.
• Build, test, and deploy Power Automate cloud flows and Power Apps (canvas and model-driven) integrating SharePoint Online, Dataverse, Outlook, Teams, SQL, Excel, REST/Microsoft Graph, and other data sources as necessary.
• Use Power Query (M) as the primary data transformation layer across Power BI, Dataflows, and Excel: ingest, shape, merge, and cleanse data from disparate sources into reliable, reusable models.
• Build Power BI semantic models and reports, including star-schema data modeling, DAX measures, row-level security, gateway configuration, and scheduled/incremental refresh.
• Design Dataverse tables, relationships, and security roles, and make sound calls on when SharePoint lists are sufficient versus when Dataverse is warranted.
• Implement application lifecycle management: solutions, dev/test/prod environments, connection references, environment variables, and managed deployments.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Experience:
  • 8+ years of relevant IT experience
  • 5+ years building production solutions on Power Platform and Power BI.
• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Clearance: 
  • Must have and maintain a current DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Certifications:
  • Must have and maintain at least one certification compliance with DoD IAT level II, such as CompTIA Security+CE or equivalent.
• Location:
  • This position is onsite full-time at our customer’s location in Ft. Meade, MD.
    • Applicants must reside within a commutable distance of Ft. Meade.
• Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience with Power Platform in GCC, GCC High, or DoD regions; including awareness of connector and feature gaps relative to commercial.
    • Advanced Power Query (M): custom functions, parameters, query folding, and incremental refresh.
    • Power Automate: expressions, error handling (scopes, configure run-after), approvals, child flows, and HTTP/Graph calls.
    • Power Apps: Power Fx, delegation-aware design, component libraries, and responsive layouts.
    • Power BI: DAX, data modeling, RLS, deployment pipelines, and on-premises data gateway administration.
    • SharePoint Online lists, libraries, and permissions, including working with SharePoint and Graph APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience running requirements sessions with non-technical stakeholders and producing design documentation they can sign off on.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting designs and status to customer leadership.
  • Ability to own a solution end to end with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or PL-400 (Power Platform Developer); PL-200 or PL-600 held prior to retirement.
• Experience with Copilot Studio, custom connectors, or Azure services (Logic Apps, Functions, SQL).
• Experience supporting DoD or federal customers.

The projected salary range for this position is $120,000+ annually. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including years of relevant experience, active security clearance level, certifications, technical skillset, contract requirements, and overall qualifications.
