Job Duties:
- Manage budgets as set by each commodity board.
- Pre-audit payables and receivables for compliance with State Accounting and Board policies.
- Audit first purchasers for statutory compliance with collecting and reporting check-off.
- Prepare financial reports and analyses.
- Attend Board meetings.
- Provide direction to Boards on requirements of State Agencies such as fixed assets, budget upload, inventory, and procurement.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting.
Legal Requirements: Positions in this classification are subject to Title 42, Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 1 – Minimum Standards for Government Employees Identified as Auditors. The basic requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or the equivalent, with at least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing. Any combination of education with a concentration in accounting and auditing experience acceptable to the Auditor of Public Accounts, may be substituted for the educational requirements in Section 002.01.
Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and Reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience with MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel. Ability to explain and simplify complex policies and statutes. Communicating information in an efficient and professional manner.
