SUMMARY
The Manager, IOC and Engineering, will lead a cross-functional team of engineers responsible for both infrastructure operations and engineering delivery. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with leadership capabilities and operational discipline. This individual will drive service delivery, infrastructure projects, cloud adoption, and support 24x7 operations to ensure stability, performance, and alignment with business goals.


Job Profile Summary

The Associate Manager, IOC Engineering serves as a hands-on technical leader responsible for improving the engineering maturity, automation capability, and operational excellence of the Infrastructure Operations Center (IOC). This role bridges the gap between operational execution and engineering innovation by driving automation development, enhancing monitoring capabilities, optimizing workflows, and reducing manual operational effort.

In addition to leading a subset of IOC personnel, this individual will act as the primary technical escalation point for complex operational challenges and will be responsible for elevating the technical capabilities of the team through coaching, mentoring, and engineering best practices. The role combines people leadership, technical execution, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement to support a scalable and efficient 24x7 service delivery model.

Associate Manager, IOC Engineering

Summary

The Associate Manager, IOC Engineering will lead and mentor a team of IOC analysts and engineers while serving as a hands-on technical contributor responsible for driving automation, operational tooling improvements, and engineering excellence across the IOC organization.

This position addresses a critical technical capability gap within the team by providing advanced engineering expertise to design, modify, enhance, and maintain automation solutions, monitoring integrations, and operational workflows. The individual will partner closely with infrastructure, application, and platform teams to eliminate operational inefficiencies, reduce manual effort, and improve service reliability.

As a working manager, the Associate Manager will also assume responsibility for a portion of the team's direct reports, enabling broader leadership capacity and allowing continued focus on strategic growth, stakeholder engagement, and organizational expansion initiatives.

Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a subset of IOC team members through coaching, performance management, career development planning, and regular feedback.
  • Assist in staffing activities including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and workforce planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Act as a technical mentor to team members, increasing overall engineering competency across the organization.
  • Support knowledge-sharing initiatives and cross-training efforts to reduce single points of failure within the team.

Engineering & Automation

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and service reliability.
  • Modify and support existing automation scripts, workflows, and integrations across monitoring and operational platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes through engineering-driven solutions.
  • Build sustainable automation frameworks that support incident response, alert enrichment, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Partner with platform, application, cloud, and infrastructure teams to implement scalable operational tooling.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies and engineering practices that improve IOC effectiveness.
  • Act as the primary technical escalation resource for complex operational and engineering issues.

Operational Excellence

  • Provide leadership oversight for 24x7 infrastructure monitoring and event management activities.
  • Drive continual service improvement initiatives using performance metrics, operational trends, and root cause analysis.
  • Improve alert quality, reduce noise, and optimize event correlation and response workflows.
  • Ensure adherence to operational processes, service level objectives, and incident management practices.
  • Facilitate problem management activities and drive long-term corrective action implementation.
  • Support incident reviews and post-incident improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a liaison between IOC, Engineering, SRE, and other technology teams.
  • Bridge technical gaps between operational teams and engineering organizations to accelerate solution delivery.
  • Communicate operational risks, improvement opportunities, and engineering roadmaps to leadership stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business and technology partners to align operational capabilities with organizational objectives.

Reporting & Governance

  • Own and enhance operational reporting, dashboards, and service performance metrics.
  • Generate trend analysis and executive-level reporting related to incidents, availability, service health, automation effectiveness, and operational performance.
  • Reduce administrative and reporting burden through reporting automation and process standardization.
  • Support audit, compliance, and governance activities related to operational processes.

Experience and Knowledge

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Application Operations, IOC, SRE, Platform Operations, or related technical disciplines.
  • 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with scripting and automation technologies such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
  • Experience developing, troubleshooting, and enhancing operational automation solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Linux and Windows environments.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms, alert management, and operational tooling.
  • Experience working within a 24x7 operational support environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Preferred

  • Experience with APIs, workflow orchestration platforms, and systems integration.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes, Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management.
  • Exposure to DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience building dashboards, operational reporting, and performance metrics.

 

This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
