If you’re looking to grow your career in Property Finance and work with a strong portfolio of property sector clients, this opportunity offers the chance to step into a highly visible and commercially impactful role.
You’ll manage and grow a portfolio of mid-sized Property Finance clients comprising a range of developers, investors, and property professionals across the Auckland market.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being active in the market, building strong networks, and using their commercial judgement to deliver well-structured lending outcomes. You’ll balance growth, client relationships, portfolio performance, and strong risk management — while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team.
What are the key day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?
Manage and grow a portfolio of client groups with a focus on quality asset growth, balance sheet optimisation, deposit growth, ancillary revenue and accretive portfolio returns.
Develop and execute a clear prospecting strategy, supported by regular time in market and a compelling client value proposition.
Lead credit submissions for complex property-related transactions, ensuring a high-quality, consistent approach to financial analysis, risk assessment and debt structuring.
Lead the implementation and oversight of deal execution relating to the delivery of credit facilities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, intermediaries, and market advocates to deepen BNZ’s property market presence across the region.
Contribute to a high-performing team culture by sharing insights, coaching colleagues, and demonstrating wider leadership.
What attributes will this person have to be successful?
We’re looking for someone who is commercially curious, relationship-led and comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy and accountability.
You’ll demonstrate confidence in assessing complex property transactions, understanding sector trends, and structuring tailored banking solutions that support long-term client outcomes.
You’ll bring experience in Property Finance, Corporate Banking, Business Banking, finance or a related field, along with a sound understanding of accounting and legal considerations.
Good communication and presentation skills, sound judgement, and the ability to coach, support and develop others are essential.
You’ll be confident working through complex credit issues, structuring and negotiating transactions, managing competing priorities, and influencing senior stakeholders across the business.
You’ll also hold a tertiary qualification in banking, finance, accounting, commerce, law or a related discipline.
