The Associate Director, Clinical Services position is the central office resource for community personnel related to clinical operations in both Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living. In addition, this position will develop, facilitate, implement, and maintain the healthcare to include, operation, clinical, regulatory, and financial standards for the assigned region. In addition, this position will assist in developing tools to measure performance against the standards, assessing, and monitoring performance and intervening with a plan and/or resources to improve performance to meet or exceed established standards. The Associate Director, Clinical Services fosters a culture of delivering high quality resident care, operational efficiency, staff development and regulatory compliance.

The Associate Director, Clinical Services will collaborate and form strong partnerships with the central office team, and community leadership, in various aspects of healthcare operations.

This position requires 50% travel to assigned communities within Covenant Living portfolio. Position can work remotely from home base when not traveling.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensuring Quality and Compliance:

  • Implementing and maintaining clinical policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and overseeing quality assurance programs.

  • Collaborate with the Associate Vice President of Healthcare Regulation, Compliance, and Quality in the development, review, and implementation of regulatory, compliance, and quality programs.

  • Reviewing and assisting in the development of guidelines to adhere to regulatory directives.

  • Monitoring, auditing, and validating practices, identifying problems, and working with healthcare personnel to develop and implement plans to correct inconsistencies and revise standardized practices.

  • Ensuring that all required documentation, including care/service plans and assessments are completed in a timely manner, and that assessments/service plans are compliant with federal and state regulations.

  • Providing oversight of resident care and adherence to the facility’s customer service philosophy.

2. Strategic Planning:

  • Developing and implementing clinical programs and initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes.

  • Monitoring staffing levels and PPD performance, as compared to benchmarks within the healthcare setting, with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Monitoring and driving key performance indicators (KPIs): occupancy, staffing, clinical outcomes, financial performance, and resident satisfaction.

3. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Working with other departments, healthcare providers, and stakeholders to enhance patient care and streamline operations.

  • Supporting SNF and AL sales and outreach goals, in collaboration with outside marketing support.

  • Collaborating with other central office leaders such as dining and facilities management to ensure smooth community operations between departments.

4. Resource Management:

  • Managing clinical budgets, resources, and supplies effectively.

  • Optimizing reimbursement processes including Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care and ensures compliance in reimbursement and regulatory guidelines.

5. Clinical Staff Oversight:

  • Guide, mentor, and be involved with clinical staff, including hiring, orientation, performance evaluations, and professional development.

  • Participating in the interview process for healthcare leaders and other nursing leadership positions as needed.

  • Providing oversight and onsite community support when key leadership is absent for extended periods of time. This includes working, with potential travel, in the capacity of interim nursing leadership when necessary for extended periods of time.

  • Collaborate with and assist with facilitating the orientation and onboarding of healthcare leaders new to the Covenant Living Communities and Services system.

6. Partnering with community leaders and central office team members on allegations and performance improvement cases:

  • Investigating suspected abuse allegations and resident injuries

  • Reporting occurrences and root cause analysis completed in a timely manner.

  • Assisting in coordinating action plans to minimize liability and risks because of compliance surveys. Assisting with plans of correction as needed.

  • Co-authoring employee performance improvement documents for healthcare workers, as needed.

7. Acting as the central office resource for all healthcare aspects of training and learning curriculums. Identify and coordinate the need for clinical consultants to assist community leadership to accomplish plans.

8. Supporting communities as necessary prior to, during, and following annual licensure surveys for skilled and assisted living. In partnership with community leadership and central office staff, review survey reports, community plans of correction prior to submission, and collaborate on any IDR possibilities.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Preferred Degree: A bachelor's degree in nursing

Certificate(s):

Current State Licensure as a Registered Nurse in one or more states within your region is required; RN licensure in all areas of regional assignment is preferred. ANCC certification preferred. RAC-CT certification preferred. Infection Control certification preferred.

Experience: 

  • Extensive clinical experience (5+ years) and leadership experience (5+ years) within a healthcare setting.

  • Proven ability to manage and motivate clinical staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement clinical programs and initiatives.

  • Experience with training plan curriculums a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting.

  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.

  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to operate various equipment based on department and weather conditions.

  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers - typing and/or writing.

  • Clarity of Vision

    • For near visual acuity Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.

    • For Far visual acuity, Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.

    • For peripheral vision, observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a

    • given point.

Compensation Pay Range:

$112,009.00 - $188,927.50 per year

Reasonable Pay Estimate

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $112,009.00 - $188,927.50 per year. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
