OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings (NASDAQ: BKNG), is seeking a pragmatic, business-forward counsel to join its Legal team as Associate Counsel - Growth & Partnerships. 

This will be a hybrid role with in-office presence required 2x/week. 

This role will support a fast-paced legal function by managing a portfolio of commercial transactions and providing day-to-day global marketing and advertising law guidance. This role is ideal for a pragmatic, business-oriented attorney who can operate independently, balance legal risk with commercial objectives, and deliver timely legal support across marketing, media, and intellectual property initiatives, while collaborating with colleagues across OpenTable, Booking Holdings, and sister brands to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of international commercial agreements relating to marketing and advertising campaigns, strategic partnerships, insertion orders, licensing and content agreements, vendor and client contracts, NDAs, and service agreements. 
• Review and approve advertising and marketing materials to ensure compliance with global legal requirements, including online marketing, social media, native advertising, influencer advertising, online advertising, promotions and sweepstakes, content clearance (e.g., commercials, videos, photos), photo and video releases, and/or commercial and consumer marketing content.
• Advise on brand and intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright issues, content clearance, licensing, and rights of publicity.
• Advise  cross-functional team members (e.g., Commercial, Compliance, Product) on global regulatory and marketing compliance obligations, including consumer protection, endorsement, and advertising compliance risks across the UK, EU, and other relevant markets.
• Provide innovative and business-forward sound and timely advice to business partners regarding legal and other risks and recommend strategic solutions and alternatives.
• Help develop scalable legal resources, including templates, playbooks, guidance, and self-service tools, to enable Marketing, Partnerships, and other business teams to move quickly and responsibly.
• Where appropriate, liaise with cross-functional team members, legal colleagues across Booking Holdings, and outside counsel as the need arises.

Qualifications/Experience

• Qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales (or equivalent qualification in another jurisdiction), in good standing
• 3+ years' experience supporting marketing, advertising, and commercial contracting functions, ideally including UK/EU advertising and consumer protection law
• Strong working knowledge of advertising requirements (e.g., ASA/CAP Codes, UK GDPR), promotional marketing laws, and intellectual property licensing; familiarity with U.S. advertising and marketing law a plus given OpenTable's global footprint
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close routine commercial agreements efficiently
• Strong judgment, communication skills, and a business-oriented approach to risk management
• Highly motivated and resourceful, with the ability to work proactively and independently
• Collaborative nature and ability to work across business units and with colleagues at Booking Holdings and other sister brands
• Adaptability and openness to taking on tasks in new or unfamiliar areas of the law
