Important Immigration information:
A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Please be advised that Texas A&M University will NOT pay this fee. Therefore, if you need immigration sponsorship for your employment, we recommend that you consult with your private immigration counsel at your own expense to ascertain whether your current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University subject to this fee.
In addition, on January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Abbot issued a moratorium on the filing of any new H-1B unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate.

The Assistant Vice Provost (AVP) for Faculty Affairs is the senior operational leader of the office, reporting directly to the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and serving as the Vice Provost's principal deputy for day-to-day operations, which frees the Vice Provost to focus on institution-level strategy and Provost-directed initiatives. The AVP manages the operational dimensions of the faculty personnel cycle -- recruitment support, onboarding, mentoring, and faculty awards and case management for promotion and tenure -- while the Vice Provost retains policy leadership and process ownership for promotion and tenure. The AVP also oversees the Office of Continuing Education (OCE) and leads the university's micro-credentials initiative and certificate/alternative credential programming as a single, coherent portfolio. The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and the Center for Instructional Innovation and Technology Services (CIITS) report directly to the Vice Provost, who retains direct oversight of both units; the AVP coordinates with CTE and CIITS on specific cross-unit initiatives at the Vice Provost's direction.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the day-to-day operational leader of Faculty Affairs managing faculty onboarding, recruitment support, faculty awards, and faculty development programming within the office's operational portfolio.
- Oversee the administrative processing of promotion and tenure (P&T) cases, including tracking submissions, maintaining files, and coordinating deadlines and committee logistics.
- Design and implement a structured faculty mentoring program connecting junior faculty with experienced mentors across disciplines.
- Coordinate with the Directors of CTE and CIITS on specific cross-unit initiatives at the Vice Provost's direction.
- Oversee OCE and lead a coherent portfolio spanning OCE, the university's Micro-credentials initiative, and certificate/alternative credential programming, including developing an implementation charter, building partnerships with credentialing providers, and embedding credentials into academic programs.
- Develop, track, and report on office-wide metrics, including faculty development participation, promotion and tenure case-processing timeliness, mentoring program effectiveness, and continuing micro-credential engagement.
- Oversee office operations, budget input, and shared administrative staff, including OCE staff.
- Maintain confidential faculty records.
- Represent the Vice Provost and the Office of Faculty Affairs at university committees, events, and external engagements as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
