POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Learning & Performance Systems (LPS) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position to support its fully online master’s degree in Organization Development and Change (ODC) and other LPS programs, as needed. students to design and implement organization development and continuous improvement initiatives. Faculty in this role contribute to a collaborative instructional team and engage students in applied, globally informed coursework aligned with professional standards.  This non-tenure-line position is a 48-week faculty appointment, with the possibility of renewal and has primary responsibilities in teaching and graduate advising, as well as in supporting program administration.

Faculty in LPS are part of a collegial, student-centered department that prioritizes strong teaching, thoughtful collaboration, and a positive, supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach online, asynchronous courses in the fall, spring, and summer terms, with synchronous engagement for advising, webinars, and meetings; occasional in person teaching may be assigned.
  • Coordinate with Penn State World Campus instructional designers and media specialists to ensure high‑quality online course development and delivery, accessibility/UDL, media integration, and continuous improvement;
  • Advise master’s students including the master's in professional studies in Organization Development and Change, throughout the program, including capstone completion
  • Advise online D.Ed. doctoral students, supporting progress through qualifying, comprehensive, and final examinations; course planning; and the development, implementation, and writing of the culminating capstone project. Includes annual participation in the 2–3 day Summer Summit residency held at the University Park campus;
  • Support program administration activities including assisting with the course scheduling, program assessment and accreditation work, admissions review, orientation and community‑building for master’s students, onboarding of part‑time or new faculty, and student success initiatives;
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the LPS department head, professor‑in‑charge of the WFED program, faculty colleagues, and department staff to support cohesive and responsive program operations;
  • Participate in department and program meetings and events.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Earned doctorate (PhD or DEd) in education; workforce education and development; organization development and change; or a closely related field
  • Evidence of excellence, or potential excellence, in online graduate teaching (asynchronous) and inclusive pedagogy
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated strengths in time management, ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, and organization

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as an organization development and change or talent and development professional
  • Familiarity with Canvas, online quality standards, and program assessment
  • Experience designing or revising online courses in collaboration with instructional designers
  • Understanding of the ethics surrounding the uses and integration of AI in higher education courses
  • Evidence of student‑centered responsiveness including the ability to provide timely feedback and grading, respond promptly to working professionals, and manage multiple course deadlines in fast‑paced online environments
