Job Description Summary:

The Neuroscience Program at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a 3 year, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor of Neuroscience instructional position that will begin August 10, 2027. This full-time teaching faculty appointment carries a service component commensurate with rank and comes with the possibility of ongoing renewals and a framework for promotion per the Teaching Faculty Framework.

We seek an individual with expertise in cellular, molecular, or quantitative approaches in Neuroscience. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a [3-3] teaching load.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Biology or closely related discipline.
• Applicants must have completed 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline in which they will teach.
• Ability to teach courses in Neuroscience such as the introductory class, “Exploring Neuroscience: Molecules, Cells and Synapses,” and other lecture and seminar-style courses in cellular and molecular neuroscience.
• Ability to contribute to the mentoring of undergraduate Neuroscience majors.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching experience.

 

Conditions of Employment:

• This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
