Assistant Marine Superintendent - London

We are looking for an Assistant Marine Superintendent to join our Londo team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

About the Role

Working closely with the Marine Superintendent, Port Managers, crew and Technical Engineering team, you will provide practical marine and operational support to help ensure our vessels and crews meet the required safety, environmental and operational standards.

You will be a key point of contact for the port and will deputise for the Marine Superintendent when required. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the safe, efficient and effective delivery of towage operations.

• Promoting high standards of health and safety, with particular focus on lifesaving and firefighting equipment.

• Supporting crew training, development, certification and familiarisation in partnership with the Crew Training Officer.

• Assisting with vessel transfers between ports and ensuring personnel receive the required familiarisation.

• Supporting vessel certification and compliance activities involving classification societies and the UK MCA.

• Maintaining crew records, timesheets and payroll information.

• Supporting employee engagement activities and the delivery of resulting actions.

• Assisting Port Managers and the Marine Superintendent with commercial and operational activities.

• Undertaking other duties required to support the effective operation of the business.

About You

You will have experience in a shoreside marine, technical or training environment, with a good understanding of maritime regulations, legislation and industry guidance.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

• Five GCSEs, including English and Maths, or equivalent.

• A professional deck qualification to at least STCW II/3 level, preferred but not essential.

• Knowledge of the ISM Code, ISPS requirements, classification and the Manila Amendments.

• Experience working with small craft.

• Previous commercial or managerial experience in a shoreside environment.

• A clear understanding of vessel certification and document control.

• A full UK driving licence.

• A UK forklift licence, desirable but not essential.

You will be a confident communicator, comfortable working with people at all levels. You will also be organised, able to meet deadlines and capable of identifying problems and developing practical solutions.

Experience of HMS, Sertica or similar marine systems would be useful, although full training will be provided on our internal systems.
