Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Lighting Technician for the 2026 A New Holiday Surprise Touring production.
- Assist with the setup, focus, programming, and operation of all lighting systems, fixtures, and electrical practicals.
- Support the Head of Lighting in ensuring that all lighting cues, effects, and looks are executed accurately and consistently across performances.
- Perform daily checks, maintenance, and cleaning of lighting fixtures, consoles, and cabling.
- Execute general repair, maintenance, and restock of consumables and electrical supplies as required.
- Troubleshoot and resolve lighting or electrical issues quickly to minimize performance disruption.
- Maintain show documentation, cue sheets, and follow-up notes as directed by the Head of Lighting.
- Ensure safe rigging, handling, and use of all lighting and electrical equipment.
- Execute assigned running tracks during performances, including preset, cue execution, turnovers, and post-show duties.
- Participate in all lighting-related load-ins, focuses, and loadouts, ensuring efficient and safe setup and teardown.
- Collaborate with other technical departments to ensure integration of lighting, video, and scenic elements.
- Adapt lighting setups as needed for venue-specific dimensions and rigging capabilities.
- Provide lighting support for special events, press appearances, and promotional performances as required.
- May serve as a technical swing to support other departments—including Video, Carpentry, Props and Wardrobe —when additional coverage is needed.
- Communicate effectively with department heads, Stage Management, and local crews to maintain smooth operations.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful backstage environment that supports safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Champion and enforce all Blue Man Group and CDSEG health and safety policies in all lighting and electrical operations.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and local safety standards.
- Ensure all rigging, cabling, and power distribution systems are operated safely and securely.
- Promote a proactive safety culture that prioritizes the well-being of performers, crew, and venue staff.

- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in theatrical or live event lighting.
- Strong working knowledge of intelligent fixtures, dimming systems, and power distribution.
- Familiarity with GrandMA lighting consoles required.
- Experience with rigging, truss systems, and safe work practices at height.
- Ability to read and follow lighting plots, circuit schedules, and cue sheets.
- Experience troubleshooting DMX and network-based control systems.
- Touring experience strongly preferred.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work safely at height.
- Must be able to travel domestically for extended periods (Nov 2026–Dec 2026) and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel.
This is a full-time, exempt touring contract offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits during active tour periods.
