Job Summary:

The Assistant eCommerce Manager - Retail Partnerships supports the growth and daily operations of Goodwill’s eCommerce department by helping maximize the flow of donated goods from Retail Stores to online selling platforms. This role partners closely with store teams and retail leadership, including regular travel to retail locations, to identify the right product, improve product flow, strengthen listing quality, and increase the value captured from donated goods.

This position focuses on improving inventory availability, product assortment, sell-through, production efficiency, and overall eCommerce performance. The Assistant eCommerce Manager – Retail Partnerships plays a key role in strengthening the connection between Retail operations and eCommerce while maintaining a positive, productive, safe, and mission-focused work environment.

Job Description

Essential Functions

eCommerce Operations

• Works directly with retail partners through store visits on training to identify, sort, and manifest donated items for routing to eCommerce markets to drive sales growth initiatives, productivity improvements, and expense reduction. 
• Updates and maintains lists and communication of brands and items to be sent to and sold through eCommerce marketplaces.
• Establishes and oversees regular communication with all retail store partners regarding listing and sales goals, continuous improvement, eCommerce trends and needs, and best practices.
• Utilizes AI supported applications for product identification and value capture.
• Travels to retail stores for onboarding, training, and support for retail eCommerce agents.
• Monitors daily operations and performance of eCommerce team. Proactively addresses and follows up with all operational concerns. 
• Understands and manages leading indicators to ensure lagging indicators are met.  Advises Manager on significant trends and variances. Develops and implements action plans once approved.
• Examines applicable marketplace metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and threats.  Develops and implements (with Manager approval) plans to grow and protect the business based on analysis.
• Utilizes reports to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions within the site.
• Develops, documents and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to standardize processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensures all site-specific supplies are on hand for daily business operation and processes/systems are in place and being maintained.
• Ensures compliance with OSHA expectations as well as department safety and training requirements.
• Creates and maintains a positive atmosphere of encouragement, motivation, and high morale within the department.
• Works with Sr. Manager on Team Member recruitment to ensure the department maintains staffing levels required to achieve the facility's budget.
• Ensures daily department goals/objectives are met (and fills-in for Team Members as needed).

Staff Management and Development

• Trains and coaches eCommerce Agents to support retail goals for eCommerce contributions.
• Supervises and leads department-specific Team Members. 
• Ensures training processes and systems are maintained and Team Members are provided and complete all training required to perform their jobs. 
• Manages a diverse workforce in a principle-based environment.
• Maintains a positive culture of open professional communication, immediate resolution of issues, and healthy confrontation.
• Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Team Members including recruiting, training and developing, maintaining accountability, motivating, monitoring productivity, communicating, and managing performance.  Also works closely with them to remove any significant work barriers.
• Ensures employee performance feedback is provided in a timely manner, and all required performance reviews are completed on time.
• Seeks out opportunities for professional development for both self and department Team Members.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED highly preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in:

• Retail trends, fashion, design, and vintage.
• Knowledge of online retail processes and trends.
• Production or donation processing operations in retail, manufacturing, or logistics environments.
• Supervisory or leadership roles, including hiring, training, and managing team performance.
• Managing workflows and meeting production goals.

Knowledge / Skills

• Knowledge of current and changing trends in retail, fashion, design, vintage, and collectibles.
• Demonstrates excellence in leading, motivating, and developing teams to achieve production and organizational goals.
• Strong understanding of donation processing workflows, inventory management, and production optimization.
• Experience with shipment scheduling, manifest preparation, and managing equipment and supplies.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and the assertiveness to enforce protocols for a hazard-free environment.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills to address challenges, resolve issues, and implement improvements.
• Highly organized with excellent planning, collaboration and team building skills.
• Meets deadlines and is results-oriented while working with limited supervision.
