Job Description

Job Duties:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the center, including hiring and managing student workers.
• Coordinate events in the center and around campus working with the director and campus partners.
• Assist with Western program events, including alumni engagement events.
• Serve as point of contact for West LLC, the Western living learning community, working with Peabody’s Residential Director.
• Oversee the center’s social media pages and weekly newsletter.
• Manage and reconcile center expenses.
• Co-teach one credit courses such as WST 251 and WST 151, and occasionally teach or co-teach other WST courses.
• Work with the Director to adopt creative and innovative engagement strategies for promoting the center and engaging students.

Additional Duties:

• Mentor several senior projects each academic year.
• Participate in alumni events.
• Attend faculty/staff meetings.
• Support launch of new BPhil in Individualized Studies degree for WST.
• Assist with recruitment and retention of WST majors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

• Master’s Degree by start date
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with college students in an educational or leadership role

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Organization and project management skills, with ability to set deadlines and prioritize among multiple simultaneous tasks.
• Knowledge and experience planning and coordinating large events.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively alone and in groups.
• Willingness to occasionally work nights and weekends (e.g. Family Weekend, Alumni Weekend) as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching at the university level.
• Experience in event planning.
• Experience working with spreadsheets.
• Experience managing funds.
• Experience managing subordinate workers, including students.
• Experience managing social media/websites.
• Experience in a classroom setting as instructor/co-instructor, or similar role.
• Experience collecting and analyzing data to improve assessment and outcomes.
