NTU Student Affairs Office (SAO) seeks to achieve its mission of collaborating and co-creating a meaningful and enriching student life experience with its partners by promoting students' personal growth through co-curricular learning arising from student-led activities, leadership development initiatives, residential hall programmes, inclusion and integration efforts, community engagement initiatives and sports. This job calls for a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as the Assistant Director, Student Community Engagement to improve the development and delivery of programmes and holistic educational needs of students under NTU's Community Engagement Framework, to promote an enriching and vibrant student life among the university's 34,000 student body.


The Assistant Director, Student Community Engagement supports the Deputy Director in the planning, execution, and continuous enhancement of student life initiatives across campus. This role is instrumental in driving strategic efforts related to student community engagement and student organisations. 

The Assistant Director leads the development and delivery of a university-wide community collaboration framework to strengthen student engagement and vibrancy across Arts, Sports, Residential Life, Leadership, and Academic Clubs. The Assistant Director will also spearhead the operationalisation of the community engagement framework and provide strategic direction and operational oversight for a portfolio of 60+ Community and interest-based clubs, driving measurable learning outcomes, sustainable partnerships, and strong governance.

Key Responsibilities

Management of community and interest-based student clubs

  • Implement the strategic plans and programmes of the Student Engagement and Campus Vibrancy Division. 

  • Lead and oversee the year-round planning and delivery of  activities of 60+ community and interest-based student clubs.

  • Lead, oversee and implement the operationalisation of the NTU Community Engagement Framework towards established desired outcomes.

  • Lead and drive innovation in co-curricular programming across Student Organisations such as the Welfare Services Club and Special Interests Clubs to enhance student vibrancy and engagement.

  • Work closely with student leaders, partners and other stakeholders to keep various programmes on schedule and within budget.

  • Mentor and guide student leaders in their development and competencies building. 


Community Engagment Framework

  • Oversee and lead the portfolio strategy, set annual priorities, and establish an annual plan for community and interest-based clubs, aligned to NTU/SAO Student Development outcomes.

  • Establish new partnerships  and manage complex stakeholder engagement, including close collaboration with external partners such as the People’s Association, grassroots leaders, etc. to ensure that student-led initiatives are both impactful and sustainable. By overseeing the guidance provided to clubs to design and deliver services for the wider community, the role advances a larger intent of character development – helping students grow as responsible, empathetic leaders who contribute meaningfully to society.

  • Oversee the design, implementation and continuous refinement students’ community engagement participation strategy, success metrics, and governance.

  • Oversee the establishment and implementation of capacity-building approach for clubs (leadership development, community impact design, collaboration readiness).


Stakeholder Partnerships and Collaboration Enablement

  • Actively cultivate and manage relationships with internal stakeholders (NTU Offices, faculty/staff advisors, student organisations) and external partners (social service agencies, community organisations, corporate/public sector partners where relevant).

  • Lead the team in effective inter-club and cross-office collaborations.


Governance, Funding & Impact Reporting

  • Oversee governance and compliance across programmes and funding, including budget stewardship and grant utilisation (e.g. Social Impact Internship Stipend).

  • Establish and oversee portfolio-wide KPIs and reporting standards (participation, volunteer contributions, learning outcomes, partnership depth and social impact indicators).

  • Consolidate insights to meet MOE/NTU reporting requirements and lead in driving continuous improvement.


People Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, coach and lead a team, ensuring clear KPIs and workload allocation.

  • Develop the team’s skills, knowledge and competencies continuously to close skills gaps.

  • Develop tools, methods and standard procedures for capability building.

  • Build an environment and a culture of continuous learning.


Job Requirements

  • Degree in any discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience in student development, community engagement, programme management, stakeholder partnerships, and/or public/education sector work, with minimum 3 years in supervisory role.

  • Demonstrate experience leading teams and delivering multi-stakeholder initiatives at scale.

  • Strong programme design capability with proven ability to deliver measurable outcomes.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills, especially in working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders from different cultural and disciplinary backgrounds.

  • Strong governance mindset; comfortable with budgeting, compliance, and grant stewardship.

  • Resourceful, good analytical skills, operationally strong and detail-oriented with good problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office application software and comfortable with digital systems and workflows.

  • A passion for youth development.
