The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and financial leadership for assigned clinical areas, with a strong focus on high-cost advanced therapeutics, including gene and cell-based therapies, and multi-divisional medication access and infusion programs. Develops business management practices, planning mechanisms, and control systems for multiple clinical departments, ensuring efficient and effective operations. Leads outpatient therapeutic programs, regional affiliate infusion centers, home infusion programs, and the management of external patient referrals. Provides financial oversight, develops budgets, forecasts growth for new and existing therapies, and ensures strategic alignment with organizational objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees multi-divisional clinical activities, including medication access and delivery programs, infusion centers, outpatient therapeutic programs, and cell and gene therapy initiatives. Ensures efficient and effective operations.
  • Provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for services generating significant annual charges, including the financial and operational management of multiple infusion centers. Chairs the High-Cost Advanced Therapeutics (HCAT) Executive Steering and HCAT Operations Committees. Coordinates cross-departmental assessment, implementation, and ongoing tracking of clinical, operational, and financial performance for HCAT-approved therapies.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, and measurable financial goals to drive performance and ensure compliance with institutional standards. Monitors multiple infusion site utilization and patient throughput to ensure maximum capacity and access. Monitors the pipeline of cell- and gene-based therapies, serving as a liaison with manufacturers and research teams.
  • Develops, monitors, and manages salary, operating, and capital budgets for assigned clinical divisions and programs, including projections of infusion volume and pharmaceutical use. Maintains fiscal control, interacts with faculty regarding utilization of grants, contracts, clinical, and gift/endowment funds, and ensures accurate accounting and purchasing functions. Manages fiscal aspects of clinical practices, including fee setting, income/expense reports, and faculty compensation plans. Promotes accurate billing for all services, timely capture of charges, and evaluates practice plan management information for revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • Manages employees directly and oversees division staff.
  • Leads and oversees a team including infusion/medication access, prior authorization, and scheduling staff, driving efficient multi-faceted operations. Advises faculty and staff on all aspects of personnel administration, including supervision, performance evaluation, compensation, progressive discipline, and employee benefits. Leads employee engagement initiatives, develops educational material, procedural resources, and training guides for staff.
  • Informs and advises on administrative and fiscal activities, particularly regarding strategic planning and problem resolution. Represents the division(s) and Division Chief(s) to internal and external organizations involved in research, education, and patient care, including Strong Memorial Hospital, the Medical Center, and the community. Establishes and cultivates strong, collaborative relationships with key external stakeholders, including third-party payer representatives, pharmaceutical manufacturers, specialty pharmacies, home infusion companies, patient advocacy groups, and patient assistance foundations. Collaborates with Communications and Public Relations departments on the development of internal and external communications strategies related to HCAT-approved products. Serves as a resource in working with other departments of the University and Medical Center.
  • Oversees quality assurance for assigned programs in conjunction with appropriate leaders. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of industry standards, best practices, payer policies, billing operations, and regulatory changes related to high-cost, complex therapeutics. Ensures that all REMS regulatory requirements are met and documented to achieve full compliance and audit readiness. Facilitates and participates in cellular therapy quality committees and directs quality initiatives, collaborating to meet hospital and accreditation group requirements.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration, clinical operations, or financial management, including 3 years of which in a managerial or leadership role required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, constructively challenge established practices, and drive innovation required.
  • Expertise in analyzing, understanding, and utilizing operational, clinical, and financial data for decision-making and forecasting required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships at all organizational levels required.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance, billing, and pharmaceutical industry regulations required.
