Position Description

The McGill University Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for two (2) full-time Clinician-Teacher positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) based at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). The professorial rank will be determined according to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will also be appointed to clinical practice in the Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).

As a Clinician-Teacher, the successful candidate’s major non-clinical focus will be on teaching the next generation of physicians. Teaching activity will include both didactic and clinical teaching.

Clinical responsibilities besides general dermatology clinic will include developing specialty clinics in your field of expertise and providing on call coverage in dermatology for MUHC Hospital and RUISSS sites.

The incumbent will also be expected to be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Candidates must:

• Hold an MD degree and have completed specialty training in Dermatology;

• Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in Dermatology;

• Be eligible for licensure in the province of Quebec;

• Hold certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec;  

• Have completed at least one additional year of fellowship related to our current clinical needs: Cutaneous Oncology, Dermatologic Surgery, Complex Medical Dermatology, Inflammatory/Immunodermatology, Genital Dermatology, Adolescent/Transitional Dermatology or Dermatology of Skin of Color;

• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills are essential;

• Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
