General Summary

This position is responsible for all operations of the geographic area including providing leadership (including setting clear expectations), oversight and strategic direction to ensure the delivery of short- and long-term goals. Experience in the water resources field (Wells, rehabilitation and servicing) strongly preferred.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of strategic plan for the area and business unit that promotes growth of the business unit and its capabilities, which are consistent with the region and corporate strategic plans and goals.
  • Prepare and communicate accurate and timely financial forecasts, budgets, and projections.
  • Be a visible model and champion for our employees to conduct themselves and our business activities consistent with our Core Values and Code of Conduct; enhancing our reputation for truthfulness and fair dealing.
  • Ensure that the Company’s Safety programs are implemented, and that there is zero tolerance for non-compliance with minimum safety standards set by the Corporate and region leadership.
  • Work diligently to create an environment with the ultimate goal of “ZERO” accidents. Develop and mentor, ensuring that Area employees are properly trained in the skills necessary for success at Granite, given opportunity for stretch assignments, and given full access (including transfer) for leadership development.

  • Promote change and the Pursuit of Excellence in the geographic area.

  • Collaborate with regional functional leadership in developing best practices and personnel inside the business unit.
  • Ensure that area personnel meet the highest standards as set by functional leaders and take an active part in personnel and team development.
  • Actively participate in bid reviews for all large dollar and/or complicated bids to ensure estimate accuracy, risk and opportunity assessment, and strength and weakness analysis is consistent with overall Group expectations.
  • Actively participate in the management of the area water well drilling business, including but not limited to, ensuring that best industry practices are adopted, projects are consistent with financial expectations, and commodity purchases utilize Company resources and are consistent with divisional expectations.
  • Develop strategic and professional relationships; work to build alliances with customers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure Layne is a well-respected leader in the local community.
  • When requested by management, provide personnel and development opportunities to help build bench strength for Company growth. In union shop environments, when necessary, act as a collaborator with labor relations, to the collective bargain process. In merit shop environments, work with the Corporate and local benefits coordinators to ensure Layne's programs provide the appropriate benefit coverage and compensation for non-union craft employees.
  • Ensure that the Company’s equipment standards and policies are being met. Include Corporate Functional equipment leadership in regular inspection of branch equipment resources.
     

    Education and Experience:

  • BS degree preferred but not required
  • Minimum of eight + years related experience
  • Knowledge of construction operations (technology, equipment, methods), company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of craft employee relations, Union and/or Open Shop, including the collective bargaining process as well as all employee related laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of water resources
  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills required.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory, and decision making/problem solving skills essential.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.

As part of our investment in your future outside of the workplace, Granite provides a 100% match on the first 6% of eligible compensation that salaried employees defer into their 401(k) plans, which vests immediately.

 

Benefits may vary for positions located outside of the continental United States.

Base Salary Range: 

$121,754.00 - $182,631.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
