Summary of Job Duties:
The Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant will assist physician with clinic, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures, assist in the operating room, answer pages and round on post-operative patients on a daily and PRN basis. The APRN/PA will augment a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provide direct patient care services.

Minimum Qualifications:
APRN:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with a Master's in Nursing
- Valid Licenses as a Registered Nurse and APRN by the State of Arkansas
PA:
- Graduate with a Masters Degree in Physician Assistant
- Physician’s Assistant Certificate of Registration with the Arkansas Medical Board or be certification eligible
- Certified as a Physician’s Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
PLUS:
- Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).
- Must have normal communication and sensory requirements.
- Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.
- Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prescriptive authority and a DEA license must be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities:
- Obtains a relevant health and medical history, performs a comprehensive physician examination, identifies health risks and needs, updates and records changes in health status, and assesses mental and functional status
- Implements treatment plans, orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests, prescribes medical treatments and medications, and manages health issues in collaboration with designated physician(s)
- Provides an acceptable plan of care that maximizes the patient's health potential and takes into account ordering of appropriate diagnostic tests, identifying and prescribing appropriate pharmacologic agents when needed, and identifying and planning non-pharmacologic interventions when appropriate
- Promotes optimal health of the patient by including preventive and health promotion activities into the plan of care and participating in clinical pathway development and quality management activities.
- Participates as a team member in patient care conferences with other health disciplines, and in clinical case conferences and other department/campus meetings
- Consults with physicians and other health professionals when needed.
- Follows up on the client by phone calls, rounds, scheduled visits, and lab results
- Educates, instructs, and counsels patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care
- Facilitates appropriate patient referrals to multidisciplinary and other specialty providers
- Performs other duties as assigned
