Liquid Personnel · Vor Ort · Wiltshire
Liquid Personnel is currently recruiting for an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) position within its client's AMHP Hub based in Wiltshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative Mental Health service where teamwork, wellbeing, professional development, and person-centred practice are at the heart of service delivery.

The successful candidate will work as part of a specialist Mental Health team providing social care interventions for individuals who meet the threshold for secondary mental health services. Working closely with health partners, Adult Social Care teams, carers, and wider community services, you will play a key role in protecting vulnerable adults, undertaking urgent assessments, managing risk, and ensuring individuals receive timely and appropriate interventions.

This role requires a skilled, compassionate, and resilient practitioner who can exercise professional judgement in complex situations whilst ensuring that the dignity, rights, wellbeing, and safety of individuals remain central to all decision-making.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Participating in the AMHP duty rota and undertaking statutory AMHP responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended).
  • Undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and determining the need for compulsory admission, detention, guardianship, or Community Treatment Orders where appropriate.
  • Completing urgent assessments of adults with suspected social care and mental health needs, ensuring individuals and carers are protected from harm.
  • Coordinating Mental Health Act assessments and taking responsibility, alongside partner agencies, for the safety and wellbeing of all participants involved in the assessment process.
  • Managing a varied and complex caseload involving adults with mental health needs, risk factors, safeguarding concerns, and complex social circumstances.
  • Undertaking Care Act assessments, reviews, care planning, and social work interventions to support independence and recovery.
  • Completing Mental Capacity Assessments and applying the Mental Capacity Act 2005 within practice.
  • Responding to referrals, undertaking duty work, and providing timely intervention to individuals experiencing mental health crises.
  • Undertaking risk assessments and implementing risk management plans to support safe and effective interventions.
  • Working collaboratively with mental health services, Adult Social Care teams, NHS professionals, carers, families, and partner agencies.
  • Undertaking safeguarding enquiries and ensuring vulnerable adults are protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Providing supervision, support, and guidance to students, trainees, and unqualified staff where appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and legally compliant case records, assessments, reports, and documentation.
  • Participating in regular supervision, training, and AMHP development activities to maintain professional standards and AMHP approval.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have,

  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, RMN, Occupational Therapy qualification, or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England or the relevant professional regulatory body.
  • AMHP Qualification: Must hold a current Approved Mental Health Professional qualification and approval.
  • Experience: Significant post-qualified experience within Mental Health Services and/or Adult Social Care.

  • Mental Health Experience: Strong understanding of mental health conditions, crisis intervention, assessment, and risk management.
  • Assessment Skills: Proven ability to undertake complex assessments and formulate effective intervention and support plans.
  • Multi-Agency Working: Experience working collaboratively with mental health services, health professionals, police, carers, and other partner agencies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, report-writing, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
