Job Title: Applications Development Manager, Diagnostics

Reports to: Head of Global Emerging Business and Sales Enablement

Role Summary

As part of a newly established Diagnostics customer segment team, the Applications Development Manager will play a key role in driving the adoption, validation and commercialisation of ZEISS diagnostic solutions across Europe.

Working closely with customers, laboratories, clinicians, sales teams and internal stakeholders, the successful candidate will develop and validate diagnostic workflows, deliver application-focused training, provide technical expertise and support the successful deployment of innovative diagnostic solutions.

A key focus of the role will be supporting the launch and growth of a new cervical cancer screening solution, helping customers realise the value of ZEISS technologies within clinical and laboratory environments.

This is a highly customer-facing position with significant European travel and extensive collaboration across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and commercialisation of ZEISS diagnostic solutions across Europe.

• Develop, evaluate and validate diagnostic workflows within laboratory and clinical settings.

• Conduct application studies, proof-of-concept activities and workflow assessments.

• Deliver customer training programmes, workshops and demonstrations to support successful adoption of ZEISS solutions.

• Provide technical and application expertise to customers and internal sales teams.

• Engage with laboratories, clinicians, pathology professionals and key stakeholders to identify workflow challenges and opportunities.

• Support sales enablement activities through presentations, demonstrations and scientific communication.

• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Applications teams to support strategic business objectives.

• Gather customer feedback and market insights to support future solution development and optimisation.

• Represent ZEISS at customer sites, workshops, conferences and industry events.

Skills and Experience

• Experience working within diagnostics, pathology, life sciences, laboratory medicine or a related healthcare environment.

• Strong customer-facing applications experience.

• Experience supporting laboratory or clinical diagnostic workflows.

• Knowledge of cytology, cervical cancer screening and/or related diagnostic applications.

• Experience working within diagnostic laboratories or clinical environments.

• Understanding of light microscopy, imaging technologies and image analysis solutions.

• Excellent presentation, training and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Commercial awareness and ability to support business growth initiatives.

• Strong communication skills and ability to influence across multiple functions.

• Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and Europe.

Desirable

• Digital pathology experience.

• Histology or cytopathology background.

• Human or veterinary diagnostics experience.

• Experience supporting the launch of new diagnostic solutions or workflows.

• Previous sales enablement experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree, PhD or equivalent scientific qualification preferred.

• Bachelor's degree considered alongside significant relevant industry experience.

Place of Work

Home-based within the UK with flexibility on location.

Approximately 30-40% travel across the UK and Europe.

Performance Measures

Annual performance reviews will be undertaken by the Head of Global Emerging Business and Sales Enablement, with objectives aligned to business growth, customer adoption, workflow validation and sales enablement activities.
