Job Title: Application Programmer - Level III
Location: Redstone Arsenal (FAHC), Huntsville, Alabama (on-site)
Supporting: The Defense Health Agency (DHA) **Secret Security Clearance**
Overview
CompTech is seeking an experienced Application Programmer III to support the analysis, modification, implementation, testing, and ongoing operation of enterprise application systems. This advanced-level position is responsible for reviewing and modifying programming systems, developing application specifications, supporting application implementation, and coordinating testing activities.
The Application Programmer III works with users, programmers, system administrators, and other technical teams to translate requirements into effective application solutions while helping ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the systems and infrastructure supporting those applications.
Scope of Work
Key responsibilities include:
- Review, analyze, and modify programming systems to support organizational application requirements.
- Perform encoding, debugging, installation, configuration, and modification activities associated with application systems.
- Develop detailed application specifications based on technical, operational, and user requirements.
- Identify required application inputs and define appropriate outputs to meet user needs.
- Analyze existing applications and programming systems to identify required modifications or improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, software, configuration, and system-related issues.
- Oversee the implementation of required hardware and software components for approved applications.
- Coordinate testing of application systems to validate functionality and successful implementation.
- Develop and maintain development diagrams, flowcharts, process flows, and technical documentation for programmers and other technical personnel.
- Provide technical guidance and support throughout application modification, testing, implementation, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with programmers, system administrators, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity personnel, and end users to resolve application-related issues.
- Support the maintenance, configuration, security, backup, recovery, and reliable operation of systems supporting enterprise applications.
- Assist with monitoring application and system performance and resolving performance or availability issues.
- Ensure application changes and implementations comply with applicable technical, cybersecurity, and organizational requirements.
Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements:
Experience:
- Six (6) years of progressive experience in application programming, application development, application systems analysis, or a closely related technical discipline demonstrating advanced proficiency.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing, analyzing, modifying, debugging, and supporting programming/application systems.
- Experience developing application specifications and translating user or operational requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience identifying application inputs, processing requirements, and output requirements.
- Experience implementing and supporting application software and associated system components.
- Experience coordinating application testing, validation, and implementation.
- Experience creating technical diagrams, flowcharts, process documentation, or similar materials used to support programming and application development.
- Experience troubleshooting complex application and system issues.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or applicable equivalency of four (4) additional years of relevant experience.
Preferred / Relevant Certifications: One is required for consideration
- Commercial baseline certifications applicable to this role may include:
- (ISC)² CISSP
- CompTIA CASP+
Additional certifications relevant to technical support, desktop support, or DoD cyber workforce requirements are a plus.
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Active Secret Clearance
Salary:
- $90,000 - $98,000 plus Full Benefits, PTO, 401k+
