A look into the role

Knowing you’re right for us

We’ve set ambitious growth targets for the firm, and we need the right people to help us achieve these. We’re looking for people who will bring ambition and drive to their role. In changing markets, we need to be able to work at pace and be adaptable to change and to be curious, asking questions of ourselves, each other and our clients to ensure we are delivering the services and quality we expect.

Role overview
As a Manager in our AI consultancy team, you will help clients work out where AI can make a real difference to their business, and how to get there. This is a consulting role first. You will spend your time with clients, listening, asking the right questions, and turning what you hear into clear strategies, plans and recommendations.

You will lead client conversations and workshops, shape AI strategy, help clients decide which ideas are worth pursuing, and run small teams. You will also be hands-on with the tools. We expect our managers to use Claude and other AI tools every day to produce strategies, interview notes, diagrams of proposed solutions and client materials, faster and to a higher standard.

Key responsibilities

Working with clients to understand their needs

  • Run interviews and workshops with client teams, from frontline staff to senior leaders, to understand their challenges, their data and how ready they are for AI
  • Pull together what you hear into clear notes, insights and findings
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and act as their day-to-day contact

Shaping AI strategy

  • Work with clients to identify, assess and rank the practical uses of AI, including generative AI (AI that creates text, images or code), by value, feasibility and readiness
  • Develop business cases and ways to measure benefits that give clients confidence to invest
  • Turn broad business problems into practical plans, with a clear first phase and options for how the client should organise itself to use AI
  • Create diagrams that explain the proposed solution clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

Producing high-quality work with AI tools

  • Use Claude, Claude Design, Claude Cowork and other tools to draft strategies, proposals, presentations, interview notes and diagrams
  • Check all AI-assisted work carefully for accuracy, logic and tone before it reaches a client
  • Share good practice and prompts with the wider team, and help raise the standard of AI-enabled work

Delivery and leading people

  • Lead and coach analysts, consultants and specialists, setting clear direction and giving regular feedback
  • Keep work on track for scope, timing, quality and budget, and raise risks early
  • Support senior colleagues with winning new work, including proposals, pitches and follow-up conversations

Responsible AI and risk

  • Make sure recommendations follow responsible AI principles, data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation, or UK GDPR) and sensible checks on how AI models are used and monitored
  • Help clients plan for adoption, including skills, change and ways of working
  • Handle client information with care, in line with firm policy and engagement terms

Joining us as a AI Advisory Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is Proven consulting experience in a professional services firm, advisory practice. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

Essential

  • Proven consulting experience [suggest five or more years, to be confirmed] in a professional services firm, advisory practice, or a comparable client-facing role, shaping strategy or leading delivery on data, technology or AI work
  • Strong client skills, including running interviews and workshops and drawing out useful information from people at all levels
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down unclear problems and reach clear recommendations
  • Confident writing and speaking, including presenting to senior people
  • A good understanding of AI today: how large language models (the technology behind tools such as Claude) work, what they can and cannot do, the main vendors and platforms, and the major cloud providers (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud)
  • Regular, practical use of generative AI tools to produce real work, and the curiosity to keep learning as the tools change
  • Experience leading or coaching small teams

Desirable

  • Experience building business cases or return on investment models for technology spending
  • Familiarity with data platforms, data governance and AI agents (AI that can carry out tasks with limited supervision)
  • Knowledge of AI regulation and responsible AI frameworks
  • Experience with clients in financial services, private equity, the public sector or the mid-market
  • Experience supporting bids and proposals

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent professional experience. A technical or quantitative background is helpful but not required

Tools

You will be expected to work confidently with Claude, Claude Design and Claude Cowork, alongside the Microsoft 365 suite. Internal candidates will already know our toolset. External candidates should show strong experience with comparable generative AI tools and a clear appetite to learn ours quickly. Training and support will be provided.
