Job Description

Purpose of Role 

To plan, lead, and develop extracurricular activities aimed at supporting students’ overall development by strengthening their skills, talents, discipline, creativity, physical fitness, critical thinking, and teamwork. To prepare and accompany students in performances, competitions, tournaments, and other school activities, promoting the school’s values and ensuring appropriate representation of the institution.

Key Responsibilities   

  • Plan and lead training sessions, classes, rehearsals, and practical sessions according to the assigned discipline or activity.  

  • Design activities and teaching strategies appropriate to the students’ age, level, and abilities.  

  • Develop the technical, physical, artistic, cognitive, or discipline-specific skills of students.  

  • Foster values such as discipline, responsibility, respect, commitment, perseverance, teamwork, leadership, and healthy competition.  

  • Promote a positive, inclusive, safe, and motivating environment that encourages student participation and development.  

  • Supervise students during activities, training sessions, rehearsals, performances, competitions, and related events.  

  • Prepare students and teams for tournaments, competitions, performances, assessments, and other events in which the school participates 

  • Accompany students to competitions, tournaments, performances, and external activities when required 

  • Ensure that students maintain appropriate conduct and represent the school professionally and in accordance with its values.  

  • Monitor and assess students’ progress and development within the assigned discipline and provide feedback when appropriate.  

  • Identify areas for improvement and adapt training sessions, classes, or rehearsals according to students’ needs.  

  • Maintain accurate attendance and participation records.  

  • Prepare, organize, and properly use the materials, equipment, spaces, and facilities required for the activity.  

  • Ensure the responsible and appropriate use of resources provided by the school.  

  • Comply with safety protocols and immediately report any accident, incident, or situation that may affect student safety or well-being.  

  • Coordinate with the person responsible for the program regarding the planning of activities, competitions, performances, tournaments, and other events.  

  • Maintain effective and professional communication with the appropriate Coordinator and other staff members involved in the activities.  

  • Participate in school-wide activities related to the assigned discipline when required 

  • Comply with established schedules, policies, procedures, and school regulations.  

  • Perform other duties related to the nature of the position as assigned.  

Discipline-Specific Responsibilities

Chess 

  • Teach the rules, fundamentals, openings, strategies, and tactics of chess.  

  • Develop logical thinking, concentration, analysis, planning, and decision-making skills.  

  • Prepare students and teams for interschool tournaments.  

  • Promote healthy competition and respect for other participants.  

Skills, Qualifications and Experience 

   

The successful candidate will possess and be able to demonstrate:    

 

  • Academic background, certification, or demonstrated experience in the discipline to be taught.  

  • Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents.  

  • Experience as a coach, instructor, teacher, or facilitator in the relevant discipline.  

  • Strong technical and practical knowledge of the assigned activity.  

  • Ability to manage groups of students of different ages and skill levels.  

  • Experience working in a school environment is preferred.  

  • Availability to participate in competitions, tournaments, performances, and activities outside regular school hours when required 

  • Proficiency in English is considered an asset, particularly in an international school environment.
