Position Start Date: October 21, 2026

Required Degree:

Master's in Communication Disorders required; Au.D.; CCC-A Audiologist preferred. Must have required degree by start date.

Experience:

  • Clinical and/or teaching experience in audiology, hearing science, hearing assessment, and/or aural rehabilitation. 
  • Strong knowledge of auditory anatomy and physiology, acoustics, hearing science, and hearing disorders. 
  • Experience with hearing assessment procedures, amplification, hearing assistive technology, and communication management strategies. 
  • Familiarity with acoustic measurement equipment, audio technology, audiologic instrumentation, and evidence-based practice. 
  • Ability to integrate clinical applications, counseling principles, and current professional practices into academic instruction. 
  • Teaching experience in higher education is preferred, but not required. 
  • Demonstrate ability and confidence to teach acoustics, auditory anatomy and physiology, hearing assessment, hearing loss, amplification, hearing technology, auditory training, speechreading, communication strategies, counseling, and audiologic rehabilitation. 

Duties/Expectations: 

  • Teach undergraduate audiology and hearing sciences courses within the Department of Communication Disorders on the BYU campus. 
  • Teaching assignments may include Hearing Science and Acoustics (COMD 213), Hearing Tests and Measures (COMD 323), Aural Rehabilitation (COMD 433), and related hearing-focused coursework. 
  • Courses are typically taught twice a week, 3 credits.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging instruction integrating foundational theory, current research, clinical application, and evidence-based practice. 
  • Teach acoustics, auditory anatomy and physiology, hearing assessment, hearing loss, amplification, hearing technology, auditory training, speechreading, communication strategies, counseling, and audiologic rehabilitation. 
  • Integrate demonstrations, case studies, laboratory activities, and evidence-based discussions. 
  • Assess student learning through exams, projects, practical assignments, and presentations. 
  • Maintain regular communication with students, including timely feedback and grading. 
  • Collaborate with department faculty to ensure consistency with curriculum goals and accreditation standards. 
  • Stay current with developments in audiology and hearing science. 
  • Teach in accordance with the BYU Mission and Aims of a BYU Education.
