Curriculum Manager

All positions in the Registrar’s office have a primary responsibility to contribute to the mission of BYU and its strategic objectives. The Curriculum Manager leads the development, approval, implementation, publication, and maintenance of curriculum and catalog information across Coursedog, AIM, MyMAP, and related systems. The position supports the University Curriculum Council and academic-unit leaders by translating approved academic decisions into accurate, accessible information that helps students plan their programs and make informed enrollment decisions.

What you'll be doing in this position

Team Leadership & Operational Stewardship

  • Provide daily leadership, supervision, and mentoring to student employees, fostering a work environment consistent with BYU values and service expectations.
  • Assign, monitor, and evaluate student employee work to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with institutional policies.
  • Maintain full proficiency in all assigned processes to serve as the operational expert and resource for student employees.
  • Conduct regular performance discussions, provide coaching, and support student employee development.
  • Ensure team operations uphold FERPA, university policy, and Registrar’s Office standards.

 Training & Development of Student Employees

  • Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive training program for student employees, including onboarding, process‑specific instruction, and ongoing skill development.
  • Create and update training materials, guides, and documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with current policy and system functionality.
  • Deliver individual and group training sessions to reinforce correct procedures and address performance gaps.
  • Coordinate with Associate Registrars to ensure training content reflects current workflows, system updates, and policy changes.

Quality Assurance, Reporting & Communication

  • Develop and administer a quality assurance program that measures workload volume, processing accuracy, response times, and compliance with established standards.
  • Conduct routine audits of student employee work, document findings, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Use tools such as Excel and Tableau to track, analyze, and report operational data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports for Registrar leadership summarizing team performance, emerging issues, accuracy concerns, and resource needs.
  • Communicate process changes, policy updates, and system modifications to student employees and ensure consistent implementation.

Process Improvement & Resource Evaluation

  • Review existing workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities to enhance accuracy, speed, and service quality.
  • Develop proposals for process modifications, policy adjustments, or additional resources (staffing, technology, training tools) that support improved operations.
  • Collaborate with Associate Registrars and Enrollment Services partners to test, validate, and implement approved process improvements.
  • Participate in cross‑functional initiatives that support broader Registrar’s Office and Enrollment Services goals.

Other Responsibilities as Assigned

  • Support office‑wide initiatives, peak‑period operations, and special projects.
  • Serve on committees or working groups as assigned.
  • Engage in professional development to remain current on best practices in higher education operations, student services, and process management.

What qualifies you for this role

Minimum education/experience required: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience OR 6 years of related experience

Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related higher education or management experience

  • Alignment with Institutional Mission & Priorities: Ability to understand and support the goals of the Registrar’s Office, Enrollment Services, and the university; ensures decisions and actions reflect institutional values and strategic objectives.
  • Technology & Systems Proficiency: Ability to learn and use student information systems, workflow tools, and data platforms (e.g., Excel, Tableau) to support operations, reporting, and quality assurance.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Strong ability to work effectively with Associate Registrars, campus partners, and student employees; builds trust and maintains positive working relationships.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex information clearly, professionally, and with appropriate sensitivity.
  • Problem‑Solving & Decision‑Making: Ability to analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment.
  • Organizational & Project Management Skills: Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage competing deadlines, and deliver projects that align with organizational strategies and goals.
  • Initiative & Adaptability: Demonstrates resourcefulness, willingness to take initiative, and ability to adapt to evolving policies, technologies, and operational needs.
  • Issue Identification & Reporting: Ability to clearly identify, document, and communicate operational issues, risks, and impacts to leadership.

 Preferred  

  • Knowledge of university and Registrar policies and procedures and student information systems 
  • Knowledge of Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations  
  • Competency in Crucial Conversations   
  • Competency in Enrollment Services Agile project management skills   
  • Knowledge of specific Registrar service area

Pay Grade: 52

Typical Starting Pay: $65,500-$84,500

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
