This senior level individual contributor role is responsible for leading high-impact initiatives focused on the application of artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and automation across actuarial functions. This role consults and may lead the strategy related to AI-enabled actuarial capabilities, influencing the evolution of reserving, pricing, and actuarial operations. You will participate in and lead special projects in support of enterprise and actuarial strategic initiatives. Drawing upon advanced analytics, generative AI, and emerging technologies, you will drive innovation and help transform actuarial insights into business action.

We may have flexibility with work arrangements including fully remote or hybrid from one of our CNA office locations, depending upon candidate location and preferences.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

• Leads the identification, evaluation, and implementation of AI-enabled actuarial solutions that improve business insight, decision-making, efficiency, and financial outcomes.
• Advances the development and adoption of new capabilities within the actuarial organization, serving as an early adopter and thought leader in leveraging artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, automation, and cloud-based technologies.
• Works with senior management in the development and execution of the Actuarial AI Strategy. Drives innovation through thought leadership and practical implementation of AI-enabled actuarial solutions.
• Builds strong relationships with peers, business partners, and leaders across multiple functions
• Responsible for monitoring emerging AI capabilities, actuarial workflows, operational effectiveness, and analytical opportunities. Shares recommendations with business partners and actuarial leadership.
• Partners with actuarial, underwriting, claims, finance, data, and technology teams to identify opportunities to improve actuarial effectiveness and create measurable business value.
• Participates with senior leadership in the development and implementation of actuarial policies, business strategies, and goals, regularly evaluating performance against objectives and holding self-accountable for achieving desired results.
• Promotes AI adoption, education, and change management throughout the actuarial organization by sharing best practices, developing reusable solutions, and coaching others on emerging capabilities.
• Stays current on actuarial, technology, artificial intelligence, and insurance industry developments in order to guide strategic decisions and capability development.

• Ability to achieve results by taking a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
• Experience influencing business partners and leaders at various levels.
• Strong understanding of artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, automation, and emerging technologies and their application to business problems.

• Proven ability to exercise professional judgment and assume responsibility for decisions that have an impact on business outcomes and quality of service.
• Solid project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and lead cross-functional initiatives.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
• Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience.
• Has attained Fellowship accreditation (FCAS).
• Demonstrated experience applying advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, automation, or emerging technologies to business challenges.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing business outcomes through data-driven decision making preferred.

In Illinois/New York/California, the average base pay range for a Actuarial AI Transformation Consulting Director is $155,000 to $220,500. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. 

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $97,000 to $189,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
