About the AIG and Talbot Early Career Programme

AIG’s Summer Interns are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, global insurance company. During the 8-week program, you will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge, working with leaders on dynamic projects, with plenty of opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement.  

Summer Interns join one of our key business teams, which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse environment. In addition to meaningful on-the-job experiences, interns will join instructor-led masterclasses, hear directly from senior leaders, and build meaningful connections through mentoring circles, networking events and volunteering.  

Following completion of the internship program, interns may be considered for a permanent role in the Graduate Analyst program beginning in September 2028. 

What you’ll do

As a Summer Intern in the Delegated Underwriting Authority team, you'll gain insight into how specialist insurance businesses work with brokers, coverholders and other delegated partners, and how governance, oversight and commercial decision-making come together to support a portfolio of delegated business. You'll also gain exposure to a broad range of internal stakeholders, including Underwriting, Claims, Compliance, Product Governance, Risk, Actuarial and Exposure Management teams, providing a unique perspective on how different functions work together within the Lloyd's market.

You'll learn how Delegated Underwriting Authority arrangements operate in practice, and how data analysis, stakeholder management, governance, risk management and oversight contribute to the effective monitoring and management of delegated business.

Some of the responsibilities include:

• Learning how Delegated Underwriting Authority arrangements operate within the Lloyd's market and how delegated business is overseen and managed.
• Gaining an understanding of the role of coverholders, delegated claims administrators and other delegated partners.
• Supporting the team with delegated authority oversight, due diligence and portfolio management activities.
• Assisting with the review of delegated authority information, documentation and management information.
• Attending meetings and discussions with internal stakeholders to gain exposure to different areas of the business.
• Collaborate with other interns and your wider team on projects
• Build a strong internal network
• Participate in training sessions, networking events and mentoring opportunities

What you’ll need to succeed

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028.
• Previous work or volunteering experience in any industry or sector
• Evidence of extra-curricular activities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
• Curious, proactive and motivated, with a genuine willingness to learn and confidence to ask questions.
