Since its inception in 1988, the restructuring group has advised on more than 1,900 restructuring transactions with aggregate debt claims in excess of $4 trillion. With nearly 300 dedicated restructuring professionals worldwide, our group has a significant global presence. Job Description

A Summer Associate in Financial Restructuring will work on a variety of transactions within the Financial Restructuring business, including creditor- and debtor-side restructurings and distressed M&A. The group offers a unique opportunity for Associates to work on a variety of projects that provide exposure to various financial advisory and investment banking products and industries. These services include debt and equity financings, distressed M&A advisory services, and special situation principal investing. These services can include.

• Advising companies and stakeholders in out-of-court and in-court restructurings 

• Raising debt and equity financing 

• Providing distressed M&A advisory services 

• Advising in special situations with elements of distressed investing 

• Participating in complex negotiations on behalf of our clients  

Summer Associates are typically members of deal teams comprising at least one managing director, vice president, associate, and financial analyst. 

Basic Qualifications

Summer Associates are given substantial responsibility and are encouraged to help us grow our business. The ideal candidate should be motivated, creative, outgoing, and possess strong communication and financial analysis skills.

Candidates must be seeking their MBA from a top accredited institution graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates must have a strong knowledge of accounting and applied financial theory, keen analytical capabilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Houlihan Lokey is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive total compensation package, which may include other components such as discretionary incentive compensation. The firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible salary range for this role at the time of posting is:

$175,000 - $175,000

Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience and the location where this position may be filled.
