Stripe is looking for an exceptional transactional lawyer to join our commercial legal team supporting our fast growing business in the Americas.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities

• Support the AMER Sales team, leading negotiations for complex and strategic agreements;
• Advise on a wide range of commercial and legal issues, including launch of new products to Stripe users and support international expansions;
• Work closely with Product Legal to bring new products and features to market;
• Be an integral part of the build out of Stripe’s commercial legal infrastructure so that we can scale and operate efficiently at pace with Stripe’s exponential growth - this work includes drafting and maintaining Stripe’s agreements and playbooks, leading and contributing projects to improve internal processes, leveraging AI tooling to optimize how we work and collaborate with our clients, partners and users; 
• Partner with teams across Stripe globally, including sales, operations, product, tax, risk groups, and others;
• Help the entire team drive scaled support and efficiency, working collaboratively in a global team to maximize the overall impact of the Commercial Legal team;
• Develop and deliver training and other resources to help the Sales team sell our products; and
• Be a point of escalation for outside counsel.

Minimum requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in-house or in a technology practice group in a top law firm.
• Qualified with good standing membership in at least one US state bar with a JD degree or foreign equivalent;
• Intellectually curious and a creative problem solver - Stripe’s products and our industry are complex and ever evolving - you should relish learning new products and finding creative solutions to challenging problems;
• A self starter with a bias for action - you are proactive and have a strong sense of ownership; 
• A clear and concise communicator (in written and verbal forms), who can distill the key risks and explain complex, nuanced issues in plain and simple terms; 
• A natural collaborator, able to guide cross-functional teams and drive to a win-win solution;
• Familiar with the range of legal issues and commercial risks that arise in connection with hosted data and technology services; and
• A team player who is willing to do what it takes to contribute to the collective success; 

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working in payment or fintech industries and knowledge of associated regulatory issues;
• In-house experience advising high growth companies; 
• Working knowledge on how to use LLM tools;
• Experience in improving legal processes with AI technology; and
• A working knowledge of data protection laws such as  CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.

As Commercial Counsel primarily supporting Stripe’s Stablecoin & Crypto team, you will lead complex commercial and contractual negotiations, advise on product launches, and help scale Stripe’s legal and operational infrastructure. You will work closely with Sales, Product Legal, Partnerships, Risk, Tax, Operations, and external counsel to enable safe, compliant, and commercially sound growth of Stripe’s crypto, stablecoin, and wallet offerings.

What you’ll do

• Support the Sales team, with particular focus on Stripe’s Stablecoin & Crypto team, leading negotiations and advising on a wide range of commercial and legal issues
• Work closely with Product Legal to bring new products and features to market, including drafting service terms and providing contractual, commercial, and user-experience advice for launches
• Be an integral part of the build out of Stripe’s commercial legal infrastructure to enable scalable, efficient operations in line with Stripe’s growth. This includes advising on the contractual integration of services provided by Stripe’s cryptocurrency, stablecoin, and wallet infrastructure acquisitions (including Bridge and Privy), drafting and maintaining agreements and playbooks, and leading or contributing to projects that improve internal processes and operational efficiencies, including by leveraging AI tooling
• Partner with teams across Stripe, including Sales, Partnerships, Operations, Product, Tax, and Risk groups, to align legal solutions with business priorities
• Serve as a proactive and strategic business partner to senior managers and act as a trusted advisor on commercial strategy and risk
• Develop and deliver training, playbooks, and other resources to help the Sales team sell our products confidently and compliantly
• Act as a point of escalation for outside counsel and manage outside counsel relationships when matters require external expertise

Stripe is looking for a marketing lawyer to join our growing legal team. This role will provide dedicated legal support to Stripe’s Marketing, Communications, and Design organizations in APAC and be instrumental in maturing and scaling Stripe’s legal support frameworks for these client groups in a growing, priority region for the company.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to the Marketing organization on commercial, marketing, and privacy issues across the APAC region.
• Help ensure that Stripe’s APAC events, marketing materials, CRM practices, and brand- and product-related communications comply with applicable laws, global privacy frameworks, local regulations, and internal Stripe policies.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage complex commercial and licensing agreements to support marketing, advertising, events, communications, and content creation.
• Proactively monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and enforcement developments within Greater China and other key APAC markets, and translate the legal changes into clear, actionable advice and compliance strategies for the Marketing organization.
• Apply sound judgment to manage and resolve time-sensitive escalations quickly and effectively to support the Marketing organization's ambitious objectives.
• Drive compliance and operational efficiency, proactively identify opportunities for standardization, and lead projects to improve internal processes.
• Draft and maintain template documents, playbooks, training materials, and other essential resources.
• Collaborate effectively with key internal stakeholders across various teams, including Product Legal, Consumer Legal, Privacy Legal, Procurement, and Third Party Risk Management.
• Oversee and manage outside counsel.

Minimum requirements

• 6+ years of relevant marketing legal experience, gained in-house or within a law firm's marketing practice group, including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of marketing and advertising contracts.
• Subject matter expertise necessary to effectively review content for compliance with laws and policies and advise on APAC and global marketing legal issues.
• Demonstrated regional knowledge of APAC markets, including Greater China, encompassing cultural, regulatory, and commercial sensitivities.
• Proficiency in data protection frameworks such as GDPR and key APAC regulations (e.g., Singapore's PDPA, Australia's Privacy Act), particularly as they apply to sponsored events, CRM practices, and vendor/agency relationships.
• Experience developing and delivering localized, practical legal training programs on marketing, advertising, and data privacy law specifically tailored for a non-legal audience in APAC.
• A proactive mindset focused on identifying opportunities for improvement and enhancing operational efficiency.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse cross-functional teams.
• A strong sense of ownership, willingness to approach tasks with enthusiasm and resourcefulness, and the ability to effectively prioritize and advance multiple concurrent deals, often under tight deadlines.
• Humility, intellectual curiosity about the evolving payments industry, and a terrific sense of humor.

Preferred qualifications

• In-house experience advising a high-growth company.
• Fluency in Mandarin as substantial experience is required working with or providing counsel to clients in the Greater China Market
• Understanding of industry-specific contract terms, governing frameworks (e.g., IAB), and commercial contracting practices within the marketing and adtech space.
• Demonstrated experience with key internet and data-related regulations specific to Greater China.

• In-house experience advising high growth companies; 
• Working knowledge on how to use LLM tools;
• Experience in improving legal processes with AI technology; and
• A working knowledge of data protection laws
