The Southern Poverty Law Center is looking for a Digital Properties and Innovation Intern to support our digital presence across social media, web platforms, and analytics. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting strategic digital campaigns that advance the SPLC’s mission and engage audiences across multiple channels. This role will assist with content creation and publishing, performance tracking, and website support, helping ensure our digital communications are effective, accessible, and mission-aligned.
Digitally-savvy. Familiar with major social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok, and how content is tailored for each.
Curious Analyst. Interested in understanding how digital content performs and eager to learn how analytics inform strategy and decision-making.
Organized. Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and content calendars.
Communicative. Clear and concise in written communication, with an understanding of digital voice and tone.
Technically Comfortable. Familiar with content management systems, basic website editing, or marketing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media management tools).

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Democracy - Voting Rights Litigation Team (DVR) works across the Deep South in collaboration with community partners and organizers to engage and mobilize voters, restore voting rights to returning citizens, pursue electoral policy reforms, and bring litigation to challenge unconstitutional and discriminatory voting practices. Our efforts center on expanding access to the ballot; promoting fair redistricting; defending against racial gerrymandering and vote dilution; improving election administration; and community outreach and engagement. DVR’s current work includes a lawsuit challenging multiple provisions of SB 202, Georgia’s sweeping voter disenfranchisement law which threatens to disenfranchise Georgia voters, specifically voters of color; a lawsuit challenging Alabama’s state legislative maps as racial gerrymanders in violation of the U.S. Constitution; a lawsuit challenging the Mississippi Supreme Court’s 35-year-old districting plan, which denies Black voters a fair opportunity to elect candidate of their choice; and a lawsuit challenging Alabama’s failure to make its absentee ballot system accessible to blind and print-disabled individuals. We also engage regularly in public education, election monitoring, and other legal advocacy work across the Deep South.
Experienced. Demonstrated experience litigating individual and class action civil rights cases in federal and state courts at the trial and appellate levels.

Litigate cases in state and federal courts, primarily across SPLC’s five focus states. The Manager, Digital Fundraising is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Email and SMS fundraising team, overseeing campaign planning, execution, and campaign performance. History
By the late 1960s, the civil rights movement had broken the legal framework of Jim Crow, yet the lived reality of racial inequality persisted. African Americans continued to face exclusion from quality jobs, housing, education, and public life, and few institutions were equipped—or willing—to champion the rights of the poor and disenfranchised. In response to this urgent need, a new civil rights law center was established in 1971 to provide legal representation in cases that few lawyers would take, challenging discriminatory systems and advancing equal protection under the law.
In its early years, the SPLC helped desegregate public facilities, reform state institutions, and secure more equitable political representation. Over the decades, it went on to win landmark victories against violent white supremacist groups, dismantle vestiges of Jim Crow, defend the rights of marginalized communities, and expose extremist activity nationwide. It also expanded into education, launching a nationally recognized anti-bias program.
As the nation has grown more diverse and new manifestations of hate and inequality have emerged, the organization’s mission has only become more urgent - guided by a steadfast commitment to justice, dignity, and human rights for all.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the President & CEO and as a key member of the SPLC executive team, the Chief Legal Officer will be a thought partner and collaborative visionary responsible for shaping, leading and managing a strategic, innovative litigation docket at the federal, state, and regional level.
Effectively managing a large and experienced Legal team – and collaborating across issues, areas, and departments - the CLO will direct and implement the organization’s impact advocacy and litigation strategy at a time when the work of the SPLC has never been more vital.

The Senior Supervising Attorney (SSA) in the Inclusion and Anti-Extremism (IAE) Advocacy and Litigation Impact Team (ALIT) develops, litigate, and supervises cases against hate groups and other actors perpetrating hateful and extremist activity. The position provides opportunities to work on cases and campaigns vindicating and advancing the rights of individuals and communities, including among others, people of color, religious minorities, LGBTQ people, and immigrants, targeted by extremists and hate groups.
Experienced. Demonstrated experience leading and litigating complex and/or class action cases and campaigns involving constitutional and civil rights, ideally including any of the following: First Amendment, due process, and equal protection rights, the Ku Klux Klan Act and other anti-discrimination statutes, public and private torts, and/or digital and cyber law.

The Southern Poverty Law Center offers internships to exceptional students enrolled in an IT or Project Management related field who possess effective communication skills, strong work ethic and attention to detail. Learn the aspects of IT project management and the unique challenges and opportunities within the different IT sectors, as well as take on daily operation of the designated management tool.
Collaborate with SPLC teams to identify risks and dependencies.
Participate in projects from inception to delivery and assist the tech teams with removing impediments.
Assist in coordinating and managing IT projects under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager.
Develop an understanding of the plans needed for IT execution.
Participate in developing success metrics to gauge team performance and capacity.
Work closely with Senior Project Manager to comprehend Agile methodologies and participate in sprint planning and reviews.
Develop a foundational understand of Agile Principles and SAFe practices.
Participate in IT planning and all Scrum ceremonies.
Learn the aspects of the Agile framework and take an active role in leading team ceremonies.
Engage in ongoing professional development by attending relevant workshops, webinars, and training sessions.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is seeking a Senior Supervising Attorney who has a passion for and commitment to protecting and vindicating the rights of immigrants and migrants.
The Senior Supervising Attorney (SSA) will be part of the Immigrant Justice Advocacy and Litigation Impact Team (IJ or IJ ALIT). The SSA will develop, litigate, and supervise cases raising constitutional and statutory claims in federal, state, and administrative courts. The SSA will also develop and lead multi-strategy advocacy campaigns advancing immigrants’ and migrants’ rights. The SSA will supervise staff attorneys and legal support staff.
The Immigrant Justice ALIT pursues impact litigation and systemic reform related to immigration and immigrant rights by (1) fighting against state practices that funnel people into the deportation machine; (2) freeing immigrants from detention through impactful individual representation and systemic reform; (3) changing immigration and enforcement systems so they operate fairly and sensibly; (4) enforcing laws protecting migrants from mistreatment by governments or employers; (5) supporting immigrant communities as they demand respect for their dignity and humanity; and (6) ending all forms of discrimination against immigrants, including discrimination based on immigration status or national origin.
Experienced. Demonstrated experience leading and litigating complex individual, multi-plaintiff, and/or class action cases in federal, state, and administrative courts. Demonstrated experience in litigation based on the U.S. Constitution and federal statutes, including the Immigration and Nationality Act and related immigration laws.
People Manager. Experienced manager with proven success in supervising and developing legal teams. Clear communicator of goals and priorities, organizational policies, and processes.
Effective leader. Established leadership in creating work plans, project management, setting annual goals, and supporting and tracking staff performance towards achieving the goals.
Advocate. Experience working with community organizations, grassroots campaigns, and impacted communities, particularly in the South, aimed at protecting the rights of immigrants and migrants.
Creative. Ability to create vision, think innovatively, and account for capacity and risks in investigating matters, developing cases, and executing strategies to move litigation and other advocacy forward.
Collaborative. Demonstrated ability to work with other ALITs: Democracy: Education & Youth, Democracy: Voting Rights, Criminal Legal Systems Reform, Economic Justice, and Inclusion & Anti-Extremism, as well as other Departments, external organizations, co-counsel, and stakeholders to execute specific strategies to advance the work of the IJ ALIT and SPLC.
Communicative. Exceptional communication skills. Ability to communicate persuasively to a variety of audiences through writing and speaking.

Lead the implementation of SPLC’s immigrant justice legal advocacy strategies, especially in the South.
Develop, lead, supervise, consult, and advise on complex civil rights impact cases in federal and state courts and administrative entities.
Supervise and manage litigation teams within the ALIT and the Legal Department that include SPLC attorneys, paralegals, analysts and investigators, fellows, legal interns, and others from within SPLC, providing mentoring and coaching.
Collaborate with the Deputy Legal Director and the Policy Department to identify and support the advancement of SPLC’s state, local, and federal policy priorities; and the Communications Department to develop communication strategies around cases and campaigns.
Collaborate with team members of other ALITs in the Legal Department as well as all other members of other SPLC Departments to advance the impact goals and campaigns of SPLC.
Serve as a public thought leader on issues confronting the communities the SPLC serves, and represent SPLC in the media, at conferences, and in other public venues as assigned and/or approved.
Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, coalition members, and legal allies to maintain open communication and collaboration with directly impacted people and communities.
Hire, mentor, train, and monitor staff performance and development, and conduct performance reviews.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
