The Role

We’re looking for something new for SoFi: a Principal Product Designer (IC6) who makes agentic capabilities happen.

In one sentence — we want you to lead the design and execution of SoFi Coach, turning speculative AI capabilities into validated, agentic experiences that help our members get their money right. You will collaborate with Directors and VPs to influence cross-company strategy while staying deep in the weeds to prove what’s possible.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the SoFi Coach vision: Define the interaction patterns and UX strategy for a conversational interface that proactively manages debt, investments, and wealth optimization.
• Build to inspire: Create functional prototypes and MVPs using AI-native workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) to demonstrate "magic moments" to stakeholders and engineering partners.
• Act as an "un-invasive innovator": Partner with core engineering and product teams (Lending, Invest, Money) to accelerate their AI roadmaps without creating organizational friction.
• Push the possible: Use your technical savvy to challenge the status quo, pushing engineering teams to achieve higher craft and more ambitious execution in our AI implementations.
• Evolve the craft: Help lead the evolution of SoFi’s internal AI-enabled design workflow, creating skills and agents that benefit the entire design organization.
• Evangelize AI-native design: Contribute the frameworks and "vibe-coding" patterns that will drive AI product development company-wide.

The Team

The Borrow design team at SoFi is responsible for crafting seamless, intuitive experiences across all loan products, helping people to borrow money to achieve financial independence and realize their ambitions.

Although borrowing money can often feel overwhelming and complex, our role as product designers at SoFi is to ensure that the overall experience minimizes friction. Our responsibility is to shape the future of loan products and personal finance by delivering designs for new features, products and improving current experiences to better serve our members as they make payments on their SoFi loans.

The lending journey for our members consists of two key milestones: first, applying for a loan, and second, making timely payments after the loan is funded. This role specifically focuses on the first milestone, particularly in the Home Loan sector. The team is responsible for designing experiences that assist both new and existing SoFi members in learning about and applying for mortgages, refinancing their homes, and securing credit lines and home equity loans.

You will collaborate across several product areas alongside product managers, engineers, and researchers to create and deliver cohesive experiences that transform the lending landscape for our members.

The Role

As a Staff Product Designer, it will be your responsibility to imagine the future of personal finance, drive new initiatives, set a high standard for excellence, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary set of stakeholders. You will communicate, evolve, and execute a strong product design standard that showcases SoFi as a leader in financial innovation.

In addition, you'll coordinate with designers from other product areas to align the larger SoFi ecosystem, contributing to short and long-term strategic direction, creating and maintaining high visual standards, and maintaining a strong focus on user needs.

The team

The SoFi product design team is dedicated to developing user-friendly and intuitive experiences. This role is specifically leading the PALS team, which is a strategic business unit that manages the company's Protect (insurance), At Work (employer benefits), Lantern (marketplace), and Small Business (SMB) verticals. This team is focused on driving significant growth and profitability across these diverse offerings. They're responsible for the full lifecycle of these businesses, from setting strategy and managing P&L to leading execution, a wide variety of external partnerships, and member experience. The team's primary goal is to scale these businesses into the next major growth engines for SoFi.

The role

As the Design Director for the PALS team, you will be a pivotal leader, overseeing the entire design lifecycle for four distinct and innovative product lines: Protect, At Work, Lantern, and Small Business (SMB). You will be responsible for driving innovation, design execution, ensuring seamless feature delivery, and upholding operational excellence across all PALS offerings. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for connecting these products with the broader SoFi ecosystem to create a seamless and cohesive member experience.

We are specifically looking for a leader with prior experience designing for incubator teams or accelerator programs. You should be comfortable navigating the complexity of financial markets, regulatory considerations, and the unique behaviors of 0-1 teams to create new business lines that are both sophisticated and accessible..

As a senior leader in Research & Design, you’ll play a key role in mentoring and growing design talent, establishing best practices, and contributing to a strong creative culture at SoFi. You’ll also work closely with design leadership across the company to ensure consistency and excellence across all of SoFi’s financial products.
